  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Vatican expert: Co-Redemptrix title of Mary not absolutely prohibited

(sigh) This comes up every so often; I see it has raised from the depths once again. So, for the benefit of the un-Latinized amongst us, I shall translate: Protestants (and Catholics who have been protected by modernists who view Latin as a mortal sin) see the title "Co-Redemptrix" and go...

That Time I Stayed in a Haunted Hotel

Well, I can empathize with him, in light of my own experience. I've told this story before, but I've really only had one seriously uncanny experience in my life, and it's certainly one of those things that can't be explained by normal means. After my Dad passed away in 1988, weird stuff...

What does the word “Amen” mean in the Catholic Church?

My old daddy told me, many years ago, that the word "amen" means "it shall be so". :) And after I grew up and researched the word in the original Hebrew, he was right: the word means, "so be it". :)

Ahead of consistory, priest urges new canonical structure to resolve Latin Mass standoff

Well, you can sit down to a lovely meal while you listen to beautiful ocean waves, gentle breezes, and birdsong; or you can sit down to the same lovely meal while you listen to pressure hammers pounding inside a steel mill. The meal you receive will be the same---but the ambience, mon frère...

Ahead of consistory, priest urges new canonical structure to resolve Latin Mass standoff

I'll agree with you there; but most traditionalist Catholics that I know aren't exactly members of SSPX. Most of them are considerably more respectful than a lot of Novus Ordo Catholics. 20 years ago, my diocese was going through a re-structuring program, trying to "cluster" parishes because...

Ahead of consistory, priest urges new canonical structure to resolve Latin Mass standoff

I still don't see what it hurts. If they prefer the Tridentine Mass, so what? There are 24 different rites in the Catholic Church---Syriac, Maronite, Greek, Malabar, Coptic, Chaldean, Armenian, etc., etc., etc. If somebody prefers one of those over a vernacular Novus Ordo, nobody accuses...

Ahead of consistory, priest urges new canonical structure to resolve Latin Mass standoff

I have never understood the hostility displayed by certain clergy over the Tridentine Mass. It just doesn't make any sense to me. Is it a valid Mass? The Vatican has said so. Is it irreverent, or rebellious, or encouraging dissent from the True Faith? No. So what's the problem? If there...

Iran's Water Supply is Nearly Depleted; Aquifers Are Nearing Collapse

Israel is also the only Middle Eastern country to use de-salinization plants on a large scale; they use de-salted seawater for most of their agricultural needs, which has turned them into the biggest supplier of citrus fruits to mainland Europe. :)

Iran's Water Supply is Nearly Depleted; Aquifers Are Nearing Collapse

It looks as if "Allah" is going to allow Iran to return to the desert from which it came.... :( The dark truth about Iran's water: Why the nation's aquifers are collapsing...

‘Everybody’s had it’: Backlash to Charlotte bishop’s ban of altar rails, kneelers

I'd say that's the commonsense, practical way to accommodate everybody. I don't understand why some people make such a big deal out of it. So somebody wants to receive kneeling; that's not exactly like nailing 95 theses to the church door. My former pastor used to use quite a bit of Latin...

‘Everybody’s had it’: Backlash to Charlotte bishop’s ban of altar rails, kneelers

:) Between the degenerative disc disease in my back, the arthritis in my back, knees, and hips, and the old bits of shrapnel lodged in my spine, I couldn't just kneel on the floor, either. I also have balance issues, so don't feel like the Lone Ranger. In my old parish, the (very traditional)...

Leo Promotes Hicks to Archbishop of New York as His Chancellor “Marries” His Boyfriend

I have reached a point, in my advanced age, where I don't even pay attention to pronouncements coming from higher clergy any more. Bishops and cardinals blather on in their heterodox verbiage, and I pretty much ignore all of it. I keep myself, as much as I can, in a position of fidelity to the...

TMZ is reporting that actor-director Rob Reiner and his wife have been murdered

Now there are reports coming out that Nick Reiner was attempting a "transgender conversion" and was pumped full of synthetic hormones in preparation for a sex change. Whether the hormones had anything to do with driving him over the edge is unknown.
