  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is the Bible (word of God) Man's Instruction Manuel?

The Scriptures (truth) are to be defended. I apologize if it felt like a personal attack.

Is the Bible (word of God) Man's Instruction Manuel?

Maybe to a non-believer who lacks faith. A genre you decide is philosophy?

Is the Bible (word of God) Man's Instruction Manuel?

I have many times. The only time Satan quoted Scripture was out of context, when he wanted to off Jesus. The other two temptations had non Scriptural quotes. But Jesus used the written Scriptures all three times. Absolutely. Especially the part where one is not to lie against the truth. (There...

Is the Bible (word of God) Man's Instruction Manuel?

Does the Scriptures instruct one to jump off a cliff at all? Except maybe some possessed swine? No. No brainier. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect...

The Rule of faith and practice is not scripture "alone"

I think that is an assumption. I will stick with what the Scriptures reveal. Jesus has the key of David. (Rev3:7) Further, it never mentions the key of David in Mt. 16:19.... it says key(s) of the kingdom of heaven. key(s). That could be interpreted in many ways.

The Rule of faith and practice is not scripture "alone"

They were types. Till Christ came. Who now has the key of David. (Rev. 3:7). Go ahead, argue with Scripture. There is no mention of these men having the "key of David". They were all succeeded by the FOREVER Christ, who again, has the "key of David" in Rev. 3:7. No mere sinner men have this...

The Rule of faith and practice is not scripture "alone"

I guess the truth can hurt and even be offensive. Further, this is a site of debate made of varying opinions by many. Otherwise, take it down.

The Rule of faith and practice is not scripture "alone"

If only it really was. It has already been stated... the two "rocks" in the verses are different. Peter is not instrumental for the success of Christ's church, but Jesus, and His truth's are. God adds no role for any sinner man concerning His work of salvation. Again, the use of different...

The Rule of faith and practice is not scripture "alone"

A true searcher of the Scriptures must always go outside one verse to reconcile Scripture. The Scriptures themselves reinforce this! Line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little, there a little. Search the Scriptures... rightly divide the word of truth... Why are you trying to...

The Rule of faith and practice is not scripture "alone"

Jesus does not take a back seat to any man. He is not waiting for their ruling to base His upon. The New Covenant, and Plan of Salvation is dependent upon what Jesus does, not any man' involvement. The RCC just wishes it did. Ex. 34: 10- And he said, Behold, I make a covenant before all thy...

The Rule of faith and practice is not scripture "alone"

I will make myself clear,...... I think John 20:23 is not about the disciples being given the "authority" to forgive sins or not to forgive sins. Only God knows the heart, and only He is in the capable position to declare otherwise. I believe the verse is sadly misinterpreted to try and prop up...

The Rule of faith and practice is not scripture "alone"

Not as pronounce judgement on another person, as only God has that prerogative. John 5:22"-For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgement unto the Son". 27- "And hath given him authority to execute judgement also". Only God can forgive sins. Mt. 9:6- But that ye may know that...

    A few questions for Protestants

As we all should who seek real truth. It is ever continuous. Actually, we see in Acts 20:30, a breakaway (false church) from the real church, promoting contrary doctrines and drawing away disciples from the real church. John spoke of it as well. I John 2:18,19. Paul also lightly touched on it...
