  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    When is Staying a Mistake

sorry so late, but I need to weigh in on this: Before my wife and I were married, I was really unsure about what I wanted and I was unfaithful. I told my wife-to-be and she forgave me. I suffered a long time with the shame and uncertainty of this, and it has given me the drive to make myself...

    The I CAN'T Funeral

that's brilliant. I don't think I'll ever forget this either.

constipation *eww* & bath pics *aww*

are you breastfeeding? If so, there's a chance he's just grunting, babies don't always poop every day. Otherwise (and check with your MD) try switching formulas (a friends baby was just in the hosp. with a bowel blockage, reacted poorly to the formula). Another baby I know had a preferated...

Mother wants me to be a single mom

sorry to weigh in late, I hope you're still looking. My wife's father's mother was a little like this. She never liked the fact that my wife's mother took her father away from home, and wasn't shy about the shortcomings. To say the least, it made Christmas akward. It didn't stop my...

New Youth Director Needing Ideas! :D

The Bible study is fine, but it gets repetative to teenagers. You seem to be well set up with games that teach fairness and co operation. the kids in my group like to play cards (I'm teaching them Euchre on Fri). Last week I got some modelling clay and let the kids go nuts creating... worked a...

    Sneezing

I like telling people that God is watching out for them, and most people look at me funny if I do it randomly (no context). Sneezing gives me an in, and discussions like this follow. I've heard many versions, but the one about the plague is what I've heard most. I hope God keeps you healthy.

KJV and the Koren Jerusalem Bible?

there is no accurate translation, especially of NT- where most of the original documents no longer exist. Don't get hung up on the words, the message is what matters.

Which Bible version do you use? A poll with more options.

I have KJV, NIV and NRSV in my house: I read my NSRV regularly, study with the KJV (and more often use it for quoting and lessons), and teach my kids with the NIV. I agree about the psalms: they just sound better from KJ than anywhere else. and btw, King James was a king of England, who...

A general question about the Bible as the Word of God.

I know it's late, but I feel the need to weigh in: God did not write the Bible. It is a book written by man. nothing was written on paper at the time of these events: most people in that day and age couldn't read or write, the only ones who could were Royal Scribes, who were all too busy...

Tell us your best bible verse

whenever I feel a little low, I remember Ps. 23- The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. whenever we have a death in the family, someone always reads Ps. 121- I lift up mine eyes to the hills, from where does my salvation come? It comes from the Lord.

your least favorite books in the bible

I'm with you, except for Mark, which historically was believed to have been written first. I'm not a huge fan of the Gospel of John, as it doesn't really follow the pattern of the Gospels. Luke makes me wary, since Luke says himself that he wasn't direct witness to the events, so everything...

    Can I split my tithe?

Leviticus says 'the first 10% of your income is holy and belongs to the Lord', which doesn't specify ONE church. how about this part: If you're going to two churches (good on you btw), which one needs the money more? We'd all like to think that 'my few dollars doesn't count', but the...

can the bible be infallibly interpreted?

here's what we know: The Bible is the word of God interpreted by man. it was spoken in a time when writing wasn't common, so it was passed by speech, which cannot be repeated verbatim every time, so the words changed. It was not spoken in English, but in languages that don't translate...

    A Question on Faith

is faith necessary? It is for me: Without faith, what are we doing here? If we weren't tested, we would never strive for excellence, we would never be challenged to do better for our fellow man. Is it sufficient? If you're asking how little you can get away with, than the answer is no. If...

    You Likey? redux

I'm lazy, so I won't link to youtube, but here I go: There's a band called Tanglefoot (for now, they're done in like 2 months) and they do a bunch of Canadian folk songs (a lot of them about my family), one in perticular that pays homage to the soldiers on Vimy Ridge. Marc Cohen's Walking in...
