  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Anti-Muslim Bigotry Directed at Mamdani

Under Trump there has been a rise in "Cultural Christianity". This is "Christian" identity without personal faith, it's identifying with the term "Christian" for its cultural, social, and political significance. To an extent this has always been an issue, though it has largely been in an...

At Pentagon Christmas Service, Franklin Graham Praises ‘God of War’ “We know that God loves. But did you know that God also hates?"

You're not actually addressing what I've said. You are merely offering your opinion--it would be nice if you could root your opinion in Christian faith, practice, and ethics--rather than merely offering your carnal thoughts.

The historic interpretation held refutes the notion that the swords were meant to be used in self-defense. St. John Chrysostom in his commentary asks, rhetorically, if the point is that the two swords were to be used in self defense and Jesus saying "that is enough" means "two swords are...

At Pentagon Christmas Service, Franklin Graham Praises ‘God of War’ “We know that God loves. But did you know that God also hates?"

"[A]nd we who were filled with war, and mutual slaughter, and every wickedness, have each through the whole earth changed our warlike weapons — our swords into ploughshares, and our spears into implements of tillage— and we cultivate piety, righteousness, philanthropy, faith, and hope, which we...

I do have some thoughts, but let's continue forward for now. What is the context for America "turning again to God"?

Now change "Christian Nationalists" to "Islamists" or "Socialists" and you'll see how silly it sounds to the rest of us

    Nuclear weapons in the Bible?

No. The Bible doesn't say anything about nuclear weapons.

NT texts inspired outside the protestant canon

The burden of proof always rests on the one making a positive claim. And "the text claims to be written by so-and-so" is not sufficient. I showed an example of a text that does that, and you even seem to agree that said text wasn't written by who it claims to be. It appears to me that the only...

Where has God said He would not approve it?

Can a young child become a Christian?

I suspect that if we could peer into the hearts and minds of adult believers, we'd discover many don't really put a lot of thought into what they believe--they believe because it's what their parents believed, because it's what their church believes, because it's what their pastor believes...

    Empathy

It's a bogus accusation that you can't back up. But I'll humor you. Pretend like I'm 5. Exactly how is my definition "intellectually dishonest"? Be as precise as you can. After all, I'm not a very smart man.

If one completely ignores the part I quoted, you might have a point.

Please : Do they know of which astrological sign was Jesus ?

In Greek a magos (plural magoi) referred to a priestly class from Persia (maybe Zoroastrians?) connected to performing rituals, interpreting dreams, reading omens, etc. The word came to have a broader meaning, for example Simon Magus was a cult leader who claimed to perform great deeds, and was...
