  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    What is Hell?

Hell is an existence without the presence of God. This in and of itself is pure torture on every level of existence we can imagine, but is only compounded with the presence of Satan, who hates us extremely. I've always though that imagery of fire and heat describing hell has always been an...

how did you come by your beliefs?

I was raised in a pretty cold Protestant church my whole childhood, and rebelled when I was in high-school and college. I always knew about the beliefs of Pentecostal churches, but was taught that their beliefs were wrong (i.e. they made stuff up extraneous to the Bible, etc.). However, my...

    your thoughts on tattoos

Although I think they're kind of silly, I don't find anything sinful about them. The Scripture mainly used to argue against them, in the Old Testament, I believe is referring to the religiously significant markings the Egyptians used in the practice of their pagan religion, and the law against...

    Talk about a BAD day!

Wow, haven't heard that one yet. Mind boggling.

    Do's and Dont's of Christianity.

I agree, however, I think the issue people differ on is WHAT exactly God wants of us, at least when it comes to what you CAN and CAN'T do. Many say, "It's not legalistic to follow God's commandment to not drink, it's just honoring his wishes and being obedient." And they leave it at that...

Does the Bible name any of the false Gods?

All the mention of false gods in the Bible is done in a historical context, what the people in the account were dealing with at the time. In the Old Testament, these was the gods the Jews were dealing with, who were the gods of Babylon, Assyria, Egypt, Philistines, etc. The ones mentioned in...

    Chinese Christian(new comer)

The military taught me Chinese for my job. Pretty basic, I'm still learning everyday. Pinyin is easier, but I need to practice reading and writing characters. Don't know much traditional stuff, all the characters I know are simplified.

    Slain In The Spirit

Lots of things of God can, and are, abused. I hear a lot of people make arguments against supernatural phenomena based on the fact that they've experienced, or heard of, abuses such as this. However, do we stop tithing because a pastor uses the funds for wrong purposes, or attribute it to the...

    What does this mean?

The pronunciation is "langren". In Chinese, it can mean "vagrant" or "unemployed person". They're also the Japanese characters for "Ronin", as you said.

    Judgemental Christians:

I chuckled when I read that part of your post, I remember doing that when I first started going to church. Don't do it anymore, although I still smoke, but no one at my church has said anything or seems to mind. Not that I shouldn't quit, mind you, I'll be praying for you. There's a lot of...

My dog was put to sleep...

I know how you feel, losing a cherised dog can be one of the saddest things in life. Don't know why, but that's just how it is. I still feel down when thinking about my childhood dog. The dog I have now is only 2, but I know one day I'm gonna lose him. Kind of makes you not want to get one...

    sabbath day

It can be any day one chooses to set aside for God and rest. Sunday for most, some denominations make a big deal about it really being Saturday. I think it's kind of silly to argue over that.

    Civil Rights Movement...is it Biblical?

I don't think it's NOT Biblical, but I can't think of any Scripture that support it, other than the basic Christian concepts of love for our fellow man. And I believe as Christians we're called to battle injustice, and racism/bigotry is one of those injustices. On the other hand, I there are...
