  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

[Open Dr Who fan members] calling Dr Who fans (2)

The first season aired on the Sci Fi Channel in a block on Friday nights with Doctor Who. My assumption is that the next season will also air on SciFi - but no word when. ;)

    Fanfic?

I write fanfiction. It's a good break from the writing I have to do for work (even though that's creative) and it's like a vacation that's an outlet. It's an easy release when I don't have time to delve deeply into my original works. One of the things about writing for a living - you don't get a...

Why is so much Sci Fi written by Luddites?

I think it's a bigger theme than just people being frightened of technology. It's the matter of your own creation rising up against you and being out of your control - even though you innocently believed you'd always be able to control it. I find that theme more running through science fiction...

I really enjoy David Tennant. Just before his run as the Doctor I watched "Secret Smile" (totally not family friendly btw) and couldn't imagine that THIS GUY was going to be the Doctor? I wasn't ready for the change at all. (I loved Eccleston.) But when he came on board, I adapted pretty quickly...

    Friday Night Lights?

I don't think it's a couple of years in the future. I have a client that has been cast in a recurring role in the series and he says Saracen and the other major players are still on the team. Saracen's a senior isn't he??

    Any Eureka fans out there?

They haven't addressed the artifact yet this season at all - we haven't even seen her son. Which really - wedding - you know - all that stuff - SHOULDN'T we have some mention of her son? I hate when they do that. Kids should be mentioned at least - they don't need to be featured - but you can...

    Writing Exercises?

A couple of my favorites are similar to the story about the goldfish above and they came from one of my favorite television writers. One was that at the end of every season, David Kemper would write the season ender to Farscape into an impossible conclusion. He'd kill off a character, strand...

SW:The Clone wars (Animated) - what did you think of the story in the SW 'verse?

A friend asked me yesterday what my thoughts were on the new animated Clone Wars movie. You know, my first thoughts were "Hey - the kids liked it and it wasn't bad for a Saturday afternoon." But the more I thought about it, the more disappointed I was - and I'm by no means a 'purist' on the...

Journey to the Center of the Earth

Wow. It would have not been as fun if it weren't in 3D. My kids and I really enjoyed it though!! A lot!

    Olympics/specifically gymnastics

I was wondering if anyone had mentioned that. I wondered when I watched - she's so tiny! China's reasoning is that Americans are always 'robust'. Seriously? Even the rest of your team is a lot larger than her! I don't know if the age scandal is real or just hype, but I DO hope the IOC...

    Any Eureka fans out there?

I love Eureka. It's on my top favorites list - and my kids can watch it too. That makes it awesome. Last week's episode was shocking though - I wasn't expecting that! And reading the writer's blog - dead is really DEAD. Not like other Sci Fi where there might be a comeback. I do hope they...

I just read "Island in the Sea of Time" by S.M. Stirling. It was a really interesting concept. Most time travel novels you see are one or two people together - but this was based on the entire island of Nantucket traveling from modern time back to 1250 BC. Fascinating ideas. In the book there...

I just caught Ark in Space and Caves of Androzani myself a few weeks ago. Netflix has some great classics available for instant watching! I think I have 38 story arcs in my queue to pop in anytime. ;) I've rewatched most of the Key To Time in the past month or two.
