    Speaking in Tongues

That's wonderful that you received tongues, praise God! It took me a few months of asking for it until I finally realized that I was given it. I may have received it earlier too, but I was assuming at the time that the first time happens automatically, and my pastor said you do have to start...

    Adequate punishment for sermon plagiarism

After reading the whole thread so far, that's my conclusion too. That said, I feel that if the congregation doesn't have rules on how a pastor constructs a sermon, and the pastor is finding sermons that are relevant and rich with information that will benefit the congregation, he should feel...

    Adequate punishment for sermon plagiarism

I failed to read the part where he did it over and over again even after being called out on it. I thought it was discovered that he used a dozen sermons written by someone else but failed to mention any of his sources. Still, I don't think many people think that this is acceptable.

    Adequate punishment for sermon plagiarism

I could be wrong, but I think everyone here would agree that it unethical to use an entire sermon without giving any credit to the writer.

    Adequate punishment for sermon plagiarism

I don't see anyone, at least on this thread, that promote the view that "it is OK for a "Christian" to take(steal) something that someone else has spent their time, study, effort & God given gifts to create... And pass it off as our own work" ...and I haven't came across any Christians outside of...

    Adequate punishment for sermon plagiarism

I voted no, he shouldn't resign...on the first offense. He should come clean and admit he used content from other people while not giving credit. In the future he should give credit. It only has to be a comment or two before the sermon saying that he'll be using some thoughts and illustrations...

(moved) What can be done to improve the race relations in America?

I don't even entertain the discussion with race. To me it's like arranging deckchairs on the Titanic. When people talk about race things like 'white privilege' I see that I could easily redirect the conversation to God and just tell them that the only privilege I'm worried about is having the...

    Modern English version question

Yeah I haven't noticed any Charismatic or Pentecostal slant so far. It's a translation that was put into motion by a military chaplain that was eventually taken up by a publisher (Charisma / Passio) that just happens to be a Charismatic organization. They were basically a publisher who didn't...

    Modern English version question

I love it, right now my favorite modern translation. It's the only translation I've found that truly backs the claim that they retained the majestic vernacular of the King James Bible. I also prefer the line of manuscripts that MEV and KJV translates from.

Modern English Version book of Ephesians

I love the MEV. Over the past year I went down the KJV Only rabbit hole so to speak but it didn't take long until I realized the flaws in this ideology. That said, I enjoy the KJV and it's my preferred translation. When I first heard about the MEV, it looked like something that would be good to...

NLT vs NIV: What's the Difference Between Bible Translations?

It's not that they omit verses, the issue is that they're using a different line of texts and a different method of validating their authenticity. The people who do this claim it's because the texts they've found in recent years is older than the traditional texts used for the bibles that like...

Called to Pastorship but not Seminary?

God qualifies the called, not calls the qualified. While it's important to know his word in the Bible, having a piece of paper with your name on it saying that you know His word isn't as important. That said to be a pastor you're going to need to learn how to listen and console people who may...

Discussion Can you lose your salvation ? -and all the variance of topic is leads to

lol I like that last part part about burger of zeal chips of strength and washing it down with joy. Sounds like a hearty lunch. I agree, Jesus gave this for a reason, and you're probably aware that if you look closely, Jesus isn't saying pray exactly the following prayer. In the light of the...

Discussion Can you lose your salvation ? -and all the variance of topic is leads to

Jesus isn't McDonalds where you just drive up each day and ask for your daily forgiveness. Do you trust that Jesus bore all your sins-past, present, and future? Keep in mind all of your sins were in the future when he was on the cross. When you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior you may have...
