  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Biggest Mistakes of WW2

The Germans had some choice names for the Shermans, like "Ronson" because it would light every time. Or "Tommie Cookers", referring to the Shermans used by the Brits. Then there was the famous remark by the German tanker who said something to the effect that their Panthers could kill our...

    Why are people labled homophobic?

Not only that BB, but disgust and disapproval aren't basic feelings, like mad-sad-glad and fear, but are instead reactions based on feelings. Typically disgust towards or disapproval of homosexuality would be reactions based on fear, or in some cases anger.

The legendary Jing tenn and her invasion campaign against Korea

If you look you will see that there have been 61 views of your post. So if you wanted to show it, you have done so, but as AlSalam pointed out, you didn't ask for discussion so your charge that the people on this board are only interested in American History is without merit.

    Why are people labled homophobic?

Well Ken, I would ask what you mean by "disagree" and to some extent what you mean by "disapprove". Sexuality is a personal thing for all of us. I don't require your agreement or approval of my sexuality in any way or form that I can imagine. If by "disagree" you mean that you personally do...

    Why are people labled homophobic?

Homophobia is not necessarily the fear of homosexuals themselves, it is instead usually the fear someone may have as to their own sexuality. When a person is overly vociferous in his or her aversion to homosexuality, if they use a lot of perjorative terms in describing homosexuals, etc. It does...

Were the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki Justified?

Hours? Really? They debated for whole hours? Actually, it was debated for much more than hours. The Navy, which was much more aware of American industrial might was very much against war with America and Britain. The Navy knew that victory was impossible, however the Army had control of...

Were the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki Justified?

That's all fine, but you made a statement that Japanese leadership didn't think a bomb hit Hiroshima and I showed where according to Japanese sources that were there that you were mistaken. Could it be perhaps that you were actually wrong? <edit>

Were the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki Justified?

The Navy minister received a flash report from the Kure Naval Station near Hiroshima that a single plane had dropped a bomb that detonated over the city at "an altitude of 500 or 600 meters, and that "the concussion was beyond imagination and demolished practically every house in the city."...

Were the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki Justified?

As Jayem already pointed out the first bomb, the one that hit Hiroshima, wasn't enough to convince the Japanese to surrender under the Potsdam terms. It took a second bomb to get the Emperor to intervene and call for surrender. IOW, knowing this it is extremely unlikely that a demonstration...

Were the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki Justified?

I guess I missed the insults. Had the US not dropped the bombs the war would have continued. Every day Allied POWS were dying by the thousands being starved to death by their captors. It was estimated that millions of Japanese civilians would have perished in an invasion of the Home Islands...

Were the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki Justified?

So? I don't think they should have executed any Japanese after the war since they didn't do anything to Hirohito, who was up to his elbows in Chinese blood.

Were the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki Justified?

This is interesting. Earlier you claimed that Japanese leaders would mislead foreigners in saying that they apologized for atrocities, but that they didn't really mean it. Do you find deceit to be an honorable trait? I don't believe these men who made these apologies over the past 65...

Were the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki Justified?

They weren't out of resources, but war weariness was definitely setting in. The US had already tested the bomb at the Trinity Site in NM.
