Go live with the poor, you'll find Jesus and Church right there. Or your money back!

The only gulf between you and the poor is the one in between your hearts. Everything else is percieved. From another thread: http://www.harvestchurch.org/Teachings/JesusWasNotPoor.htm

    Baptism problems...

Not that I don't have plenty of time to figure this out on my own, but I'm open to suggestions. Say I am a minister who needs to baptise a new believer, immersion method. Barring baptising them in a bath tub, swimming pool, or an unfamiliar church, what are my options? Please don't try to sway...

The "Final Authority" = the Bible

No, Jesus is the Word. The ink, paper, and glue are unimportant. It's the message they communicate that is the Word. You could say, Jesus is the Message.

The "Final Authority" = the Bible

...??? I wasn't exactly saved before I could read, but I was definitely saved before I started reading the Bible or even owned one. Who told you a man had to own a Bible to be saved?

The "Final Authority" = the Bible

Then why should I find anything wrong with worshipping the Bible, since they are his words? I suppose you should worship the church as well, since it is the Body of Christ. Also the bread and wine of the sacrament should be worshipped, since it is his flesh and blood. And since every true...

The "Final Authority" = the Bible

Do you worship Jesus' physical body, or his eternal spirit? What I mean is, Just as all creation is a mirror reflecting the mind of God, the Word is a reflection on His Son, specifically. It is the most direct conduit we have to discerning the heart of God; and if Jesus was about anything, it...

The "Final Authority" = the Bible

I agree with you here. This is what I was referring to when I said "If God is not the final authority..." I believe that just as Jesus was manifest as God in the flesh, so was he manifested as the Word through the Scripture. I'll do a little more research on this theology, though.

The "Final Authority" = the Bible

Even by that token, isn't the Bible just an extension of the Church, the Body of Christ, since it was written by the "oracles of God"? Therefore, isn't it ordained just as the Church was ordained?

The "Final Authority" = the Bible

... ...what? In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the WORD WAS GOD. If God isn't the final authority, in book form or otherwise, who is?

    Fighting Back

You should learn ninjitsu--all about how to disarm or otherwise incapacitate your opponent without injuring him (beyond superficially anyway). If all christians were also ninjas, I think we'd get a lot more respect.

    satan beats god?

I think this is the core of your problem. You are unable to reconcile the Old and New Testaments and treat the whole thing as revelation into God's character.

    satan beats god?

You know the God of the Hebrews was the same God that flooded the earth and killed all its inhabitants except whom he chose. The Hebrew's war on Canaan was God pouring out his judgement on the nations; that's what death meant to them. If you die, it is because God is going to judge you in the...

    satan beats god?

Unless you have figured out why Jesus smote the fig tree, don't attack my argument with this verse. What translation are you using for this? "Lucifer" was a Roman diety, and according to Godchecker.com: So. This is Tower of Babel thinking; I don't see why this applies...

    satan beats god?

First of all, "Thou shalt not kill", in the Hebrew, translates to "Thou shalt not commit premeditated murder". The transliteration of the English Bible simplifies this idea, but in the process loses some of the specific meaning. God was the leader of the bloody Hebrew army, was he not? Did God...

    satan beats god?

That's not what I'm saying at all. Sin is disobedience; period, there are no hidden connotations to sin. Sin isn't killing, it's killing when God told you not to. According to what I said, Satan is doing exactly what he was designed to do by tempteng humans, therefore he is as blameless as the...
