  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

In a world so lost ,what can we do to be more effective in reaching the lost?

I doubt this to be the right approach. Our effectiveness is not what we are to care about. We are given clear instructions: Love one another, love your next, love your enemy, take up your cross and follow the Lord. The question in how far this can or will be effective is way beyond our...

Guns are not the problem, society is...

Yes it is. It is still unspeakably bad if someone commits suicide (a person I know just commited suicide last week, so I do take this very seriously), but all the other people would still be alive. I think I get what you mean. One would still have to address the problem of the shooter. There is...

Why don't Muslim refugees go to Muslim countries???

Is there a reason why you come up with something completely different instead of answering my question? By the way, there are Christian refugees, there are Hindus, there are Yesidis... why does no one speak of a Christian invasion. Of course, their percentage is smaller, but didn't you just say...

Why don't Muslim refugees go to Muslim countries???

What if all the refugees from continental Europe stopped in England? What would the USA look like today? And what would have happened to the British Empire?

    Adequate punishment for sermon plagiarism

So it appears Mr. Carson and I disagree. If Mr. Carson was here, I could even debate that with him ;) I said before, I'd prefer credit to be given for the original author, but as I do not know the circumstances it might be that there were good reasons why he didn't do this. I still say that...

    Love Your Enemies?

I think it is unique to Christianity. Everyone else would call this plain insane. But if love prevails, as we believe, this is the way to go. It's really tough, but every step God gives the strength to take is so full of reward... God bless

    Christian for the Wrong Reasons

Right. Not at all. What I wonder is: Why do you force? I mean, if you were an atheist you wouldn't even bother and hadn't started this thread. So I presume you are a believer. But if you believe, what is the problem? Do you think you are not doing enough? Works won't safe anybody, Paul is very...

Is "Love Thy Neighbor" Even Possible?

Thank you for this thread. I think it shows very well the two extremes "cheap grace" on the one side and "justification by works" on the other side. There is nothing wrong with the commandment. But we try to water it down so we can handle it. I think everybody is doing this every now and then...

    Adequate punishment for sermon plagiarism

You have no proof he didn't study the bible on his own. Maybe he did study hard and found out that the plagiarized sermons express key points of the gospel better than he could express them. Now what would a good pastor do? Be proud and try to write some equally good sermon, or give his...

What do you think about fire and brimstone preaching?

I think quite the contrary: It will not help in evangelistic purposes. I think there it will even be harmful, because it will hide the love God has for His children, even the lost ones. On the other hand I think, once you are "in", know you are saved, you can easily get to think you are special...

Is "Pro-Choice" the right "choice" for a Christian to make? Why or why not?

There are French boards? What makes you think I know French? A quick forum search didn't get me a French post by you, by the way. Must have been longer ago... Those "personal books" are lexica. But to answer you I searched through my boxes and got out my Hebrew/Aramaic-German lexicon, It's the...

Why don't Muslim refugees go to Muslim countries???

Where did you get this info from? I mean, if you look at Christendom, everybody has his unique understanding of God, the cross, Jesus etc. Just take a look around in this forum: People are different in Christendom. But you claim that Muslims, who are created by the same creator, do all follow...

Is "Pro-Choice" the right "choice" for a Christian to make? Why or why not?

No it doesn't. Yeled means children, or fruit of the body, or offspring. The term itself does leave it open whether alive or not. And as I said, you have to look at the word before... As for shekol, it means bereaved, no matter whether you are bereaved of something dead or alive. Problem is, I...

Is "Pro-Choice" the right "choice" for a Christian to make? Why or why not?

You rely on your understanding of the strong numbers. I studied Hebrew. Little hint: Yeled means children generally (including unborn), you don't want that word, you want the word before. Shekol has the basic meaning of being bereaved, miscarriage only being one possibility of many. Do you speak...

Is "Pro-Choice" the right "choice" for a Christian to make? Why or why not?

As I said before: This will lead nowhere. What good does it lead to to know you are right (or wrong)? What we need is reconciliation, is healing, not categorisation. When did He condemn it? Of course we can start looking in the bible for how the unborn life is valued. The only passages I...
