  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why do i wittness for Christ

"For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again." [2 Cor. 5:14-15/NIV]

    Peter and Judas

Jesus said, "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat; but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers." [Lk. 22:31-32/NASB] Jesus prayed for Peter. He did not pray thusly for Judas...

    Can a Christian Repent?

I'm sorry Vince, but you are mistaken. Though the root verb (μετανοέω) indicates a change of thought or mind, it also requires a change in behavior. Repent literally means "to turn and walk the other way". This is an excellent example of the inadequacy...

    Can a Christian Repent?

"The time has come," he said. "The kingdom of God is near. Repent (μετανοεῖτε) and believe the good news!" [Mk. 1:15/NIV] Present tense imperative verbs suggest a continuous application. Therefore, it is incumbent on every Christian to repent...

    Ordination of Women

The question is not one of ability, but propriety. Do you believe the ordination of women is within the will of God? If so, on what biblical basis do you base your belief?

    Ordination of Women

Allow me to stimulate the discussion a bit. Since it seems that a fair number of contributors believe a conservative evangelical can nevertheless favor the ordination of women to senior church leadership, perhaps we need to examine the hermeneutic mechanisms they employ. If one chooses to...

    Guilty by Association

Certainly God's power supersedes our human weaknesses and vulnerabilities. :) For example, there is no question that the Lord Jesus spent a great deal of time around some of the worst sinners one could imagine, yet did not sin. However, when instructing Christians on handling a fallen brother...

    Guilty by Association

Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character." [1 Cor. 15:33] Our character is informed by those with whom we associate. "Be very firm, then, to keep and do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, so that you may not turn aside from it to the right hand or to the left, so...

    Ordination of Women

re: Rev. 2 Brother, if one used this text in support of women in senior/teaching leadership in the church, wouldn't that constitute an argument from silence? Perhaps something like this: God didn't mention anything about disallowing women the pulpit, therefore He mustn't have had a problem...

    Ordination of Women

It goes without saying that no biblically consistent Christian can support the ordination of women to senior church leadership. Some say that all who support the ordination of women are definitively liberal. Thus our question. Are all those who support the ordination of women to senior...

Why we are not to swear (an oath)

The issue in Matthew 5 relates to the way Jews tended to think of oaths. In their view, if one swears by the name of God, then one is bound by that oath. But if one swears on something else...your mother's grave, for example...THAT oath could then be broken. A similar issue is in view in...
