  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is eating junk food a sin?

REPHAIAHPEDAHEL, if eating junk food is not a sin, then would you consider smoking or drinking a sin? A lot of Christians consider smoking a sin because it harms the body, so by that reasoning, junk food would be a sin as well.

Organic popcorn is a great snack choice, but definitely get organic.

    Red Meat and Heart Disease

That's funny jdbrown, but at the same time, I'm afraid it kind of reflects the attitude people have about taking their diets seriously. Like we all die anyway kind of mentality. The thing if if paying attention to what we eat can make our lives longer or give us more mobility and less pain...

    Red Meat and Heart Disease

I would be curious to know if this effect was the same in grass fed beef. Something tells me that somewhere down the line this issue may be related to the type of foods or hormones cows are given these days. I guess only time will tell for sure.

Is there anything safe to drink?

Is there anything safe to drink? I just posted an article on this subject on my health site hip2bfit.com. What inspired me was a couple of headlines from Fox news, one was talking about energy drinks being linked to heart problems, and another about a woman having bone issues from drinking...

can food cause a change in your sexual orientation?

Don't know about that, but... I do know this. Garlic increases testosterone. Broccoli and cauliflower can lower estrogen. Exercise increases testosterone. Zinc is needed for testosterone production as well as healthy fats. Drinking alcohol lowers testosterone. The chemicals used in...

    Time Travel

That's a very good point. If the world hadn't seen first hand how terrible the use of an atomic bomb was, there could very well have been a war where two sides used the bomb at the same time which could have destroyed the world as we know it today. Such a war would take generations to recover...

I saw Huey and the News, New Edition, and Guns N Roses with Skid Row back in the day. There was a world of difference between those concerts. The Guns concert was at a muddy race track where everyone just stood around. The other ones you had your own seat, and you stayed there. I did get closer...

    Star Trek and Secular Humanism

Each series probably had a completely different set of writers, directors, and producers which carried their own belief system to the table.

Is eating junk food a sin?

Well the Bible says that bodily exercise profiteth little, but I think a lot of people interpret that in the wrong way believing that exercise is sheer vanity. The whole verse says 1 Timothy 4:8 KJV For bodily exercise profiteth little : but godliness is profitable unto all things, having...

Is eating junk food a sin?

Also I think if somebody believes smoking is a sin, then really by rights they should also believe eating junk food is a sin. I never realized before the last few years how bad junk food is really to the human body. I don't think most people really get it either, or they just don't allow that...

My take: A word to Christians - Be nice

Gee whiz dude, you can't go into every conversation from the viewpoint I'm totally right, without acknowledging other people are out there that might disagree with you. I mean I believe I'm right and your wrong. That's human nature, but you have to at least try and acknowledge the fact people...

My take: A word to Christians - Be nice

I'm sorry but from my point of view it sounds like you are saying basically agree with you or else. Getting angry never wins one over to your side anyway. Proverbs says, "A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger." There's never a guarantee that you convince people of...

My take: A word to Christians - Be nice

Is it just the way I'm reading your comments, are you just a little bit irritable? Why is that libs always seem ticked off all the time. Can't we discuss topics without the anger?
