  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Is it ethically a good idea to purchase the One Ring?

    You should get some asbestos gloves to go with the one ring. No point tossing it in the fire to see the elvish script, only to realize that it is too hot to handle!

    Abortion And Pontius Pilate Christians

    Sorry, yes, Bibbles. We thought that we could collect up our spare ones for them. But realised that they were in the wrong language and it would be cheeper to buy them over there than ship them out. I think they cost 2.50 to buy there. Talk about not having much money. They are getting some...

    Abortion And Pontius Pilate Christians

    Fair comment. :groupray:. Not just on this subject but generaly I see that we can all get caught up in politics, even just the internal politics of ones own church. When we do that we seem to start to dig our heals in and put up walls to protect our ideas. We get so proud and defensive of our...

    Insurance = gambling?

    I am only saying this for arguments sake: Isn’t the small fixed cost the same as the bet one might place and the potential large loss the antithesis of a potentially large win? Are we not putting our bet down and then hoping we don’t ever have to collect our winnings because of the inconvenience...

    Abortion And Pontius Pilate Christians

    Hmm, I am honest enough to be able to say that I don’t know God’s will on abortion, though I can't see how it would make him happy. I might have my own ideas, but it isn’t about my own ideas. I agree that you can’t outlaw sin out of people though. But again, here are a couple of points: Jesus...

    Ever had your mind changed?

    Yes, I know of someone who is big for God, but is being brow beaten at the moment, by another Christian, into a way of thinking that is not theirs. Having an unwelcome school of thinking forced on this person is making them close up and turn off. I have suggested they take a look at this site to...

    Abortion And Pontius Pilate Christians

    Don't quite get how your post is in reply to mine. Maybe I misunderstand you or you misunderstand me. But As far as being luke warm or READING MY BIBLE is concerned, I am a church leader, I read my bible and I have backed up what I say with scripture, which is the only backing I need. In love...

    Ever had your mind changed?

    T-shirt? What did it say? Or am I missing something? I found a great Harley T-shirt from St. Paul Harley Davidson. Thought it was sort of apt. I think I have come close to having my mind changed all at once one time in the past, but ended up just being more open to the idea put forward. It was a...

    Abortion And Pontius Pilate Christians

    QUOTE: "The true believer will not be for abortion,or any of the other sins we point to.We need to clean our own house first." END QUOTE. Just a word of caution. When saying that if someone was a real Christian they wouldn’t contemplate or do certain things any more bear in mind that Simon...

    What is up with Christians and rock music???

    Thanks, Reading it back it does seem awsome. It's funny I just remembered it as something interesting that happened a little while ago and had a rock theme to it, so I posted it. Don't things seem to fade into normallity over such a short time. I think that is why it is good to talk and share so...

    Insurance = gambling?

    Thanks, it looks like we have a good chance of getting our cash back :clap: . If not at least we have put a stop to it now. If someone is going to steel money from me, what a shame it is that they are just gambling it away – I almost hope they had a big win. I know something about horses myself...

    Insurance = gambling?

    I like that story. Please don't think I am mad or anything, or have a hang up about gambling. I just find it interesting how one persons idea of what constitutes gambling is diffrerent from anothers. I still think that the things I mentioned are a kind of gambling, but not a kind that is wrong...

    Insurance = gambling?

    Good old Ned. I saw the one where Homer's house cought fire and then it spread to Ned's. Homer said,'Where is your God now?' Ned looked to the sky and a cloud came and put Ned's house out then a rainbow appeared above Ned's roof. Homer said, :doh: I think that insurance is a form of gambling, I...
