  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Back in the days.... (an old geezer thread)

Back in the old days I remember no flat TV and a lot of problem with reception, spending a lot of time moving the antenna. The same with the radio and the channels wheel. Tape cassette, walkman and VHS. No A/C in the home. No gas hot water heater but electric one that would last few time. Cars...

    Parenting a teenage daughter. Help!!!

Not yet, I've younger daughters. Maybe I'm wrong and reality of a 17yo is different from what I imagine. Anyway that was my first though, I think that is the "theoretical basis", a goal to reach and I think it would be good to reason about it, then, yes, reality of fact to reach it could be...

    Parenting a teenage daughter. Help!!!

Am I the only one to think the big issue is not boyfriend, sex, sex talk, that boy's parents, ...but the bad daughter behaviors? Still good arguments, I would have sex talk, be supportive, let the relationship to continue, but what about discipline, obedience, respect? Ephesians 6:1 "Children...

    Parenting a teenage daughter. Help!!!

You not necessarily need to buy a gps device, just use some phone app gps tracking. Search google for "parents gps tracking" or similar. A problem would be just if she leaves the phone in some place or if she uninstall the app but you can check that just calling her and you can use parental...

    Parenting a teenage daughter. Help!!!

Hi jericha, I'm sorry for your situation. I would split the issue in two part, one about the new boy and the other one about misbehaving, lying and breaking rules. So, she will have a boyfriend soon or later, IMO there is nothing bad about that, I would talk to her about your experiences...

Using religion as an excuse for abusing children

. I'm really sorry, my fault, I never though you as a dishonest person. I used not the right word, I would mean reasoning in an impartial openly way, like not only a personal point of view. Please, forgive me, I really think you are honest and you are giving your point of view for a really good...

Using religion as an excuse for abusing children

A lot of adults would be happy to make crimes and take just only a spanking. Jail too is degrading and humiliating, we use it. A spanking works straight on the children mind to associate a bad act with a bad emotion. It doesn't works in that way for adults because usually they already made all...

Using religion as an excuse for abusing children

There are different level of spanking, you cannot generalize all the spankings, there is a little pop on the bottom, two or three swats with the hand, with an object, 10 swats that don't leave bruises and and others stronger that do it, spanking that turns in beating (as in that video, and it is...

Using religion as an excuse for abusing children

These beatings are obviously abuse, spanking is a different thing. IMO parents that use spanking just only because "it's written in the Bible" are making it wrong, or yes, as an excuse. They should look at the whole Bible that includes mercy, forgiveness, peace, hope, thankfulness, trust...

how should i react when this happens

Be a liar means saying "yes" when you already know (at the moment you say yes) you will not make it and the right answer should be "no". All of us change plans in the meantime, if someone gets involved with our plan changes, we give explanation and say "I'm sorry". In these cases try to take the...

ok, so I am having parent problems

You should look at the whole Bible, all at the same time. So, as in my previous post... In your situation I think you should still obey your mom for what is reasonable and according to the Bible, like the thing you wrote... For things like your father telling you "do what make sense to you"...

ok, so I am having parent problems

That is no right if you are referring to this: "Hi guys. I have scrupulosity and I just realized it's the biggest source of all my problems." She never said to have an actual diagnosis of scrupulosity. She wrote "I have". Is that in another thread? Anyway IMO it's no so correct to give personal...

ok, so I am having parent problems

Sorry, let me understand, what do you mean with "OP has been diagnosed with scrupulosity, which is a type of OCD"? Have you done a "scrupulous" medical diagnosis by OP's posts here?

ok, so I am having parent problems

I write a classic thing, still true, parents has not to be friends of their children. Good parents give over the unconditional love, discipline, boundaries, teach good behavior, right from wrong, make their children safe and secure. So, which is the main disciplinarian in your home? Which one is...

ok, so I am having parent problems

Bible says "Children, obey your parents in the Lord", in the Lord means in the Church, in the God's will. I just found this: Clarke's Commentary on Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents - This is a duty with which God will never dispense; he commands it, and one might think that gratitude...
