  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Paul Washer

When I heard Washer's "shocking" sermon, I couldn't seem to find the shocking part... All I can think of is that most Christian teens are used to hearing fluff every week. There is a time and place for the gentle mention and the harsh rebuke. American culture is such that we who are...

    Coming Back to RM

I think the baptism issue is only as big as it is in RM churches because it is the easiest target for people from other theological backgrounds. Most of us tend to overcompensate in areas we feel we are being attacked. Sometimes that compensation can result in too many messages on the same...

Women as Pastors - No Go?

No it doesn't. It clearly states she was a prophetess... No one is arguing against that. The Bible does nothing to lead us to the conclusion that Miriam had the same role as Aaron. This thread isn't about equality, it is about roles. Who was the female Rabbi?

    Non-denomonational Christian

Not neccessarily... most non-denom churches that came from denominations, or from church splits, exist mainly because the founding members either didn't want to have the denomination as authority, or felt that they had to leave the denomination due to some evil the denomination endorsed. (which...

    Non-denomonational Christian

I wouldn't go that far... difference in teaching is one of the main reasons denominations exist. On the surface the Gospel may seem the same, but different groups teach different applications. The political aspects of denominationalism are only the most hyped, not necessarily the denominations...

    Non-denomonational Christian

You can't really look at non-denom churches in the same way you look an denominational churches. Most non-denom churches started as denominational churches that seperated from thier districts (or conferances or synods etc...). You are going to run into non-denom churches of all flavors. Most...

Women as Pastors - No Go?

I cannot respond to this any better than the Word can.

Women as Pastors - No Go?

Eve was the first to sin, not to carry the word of God. The knowlege she gained had nothing to do with God, but everything to do with sin.

    Women Serving Communion?

Well, there are a lot of RM churches that are dogmatic about using one cup. :) You can't make this stuff up.

    Women Serving Communion?

You get into controversial territory when you start talking communion and the RM. :) Biblically, communion was started using only one cup, which was passed around. So if practiced this way, any woman taking part would have to pass it to the next person. I'm not a one-cupper, though, so no...

Women as Pastors - No Go?

Think about it? This is the line of reasoning that leads some to think that fornication and homosexuality is hunky-dory in the eyes of God. As for "Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons"

Women as Pastors - No Go?

If God chose, in his wisdom, to put something in the Bible that I disagree with... I feel abliged to pray that he will change my mind so that I can reflect what he thinks. The opinion of Paul is the opinion of God. Every scripture is God breathed. We don't pick and choose and say one passage...

    How to Apply Romans 14?

So.... If it's not referring to false teaching then does that mean that those who preach that Christians sin if they eat meat are not preaching falsehoods? You see lot of people condemning the more "legalistic" Christian's these days... and an awful lot of people judging those who don't have...

    How to Apply Romans 14?

Time for a friendly discussion. :) How does the following scripture fit into the balanced Christian's view of false teaching and apostacy? Feel more than free to bring in other scriptures as well, but please focus mostly on how to apply this verse in a balanced fashion. :)
