  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Did you read the entire sentence?

If you want to call letting the author complete a sentence "eisegesis", I guess you'll have to live with that

    Creation and exegesis

I've looked up some info on this, and it seems they were possibly there for 210 years, not 400, based upon Isaac's age as ONE WAY of explaining how the prophecy of 400 wouldn't be true. Either way, that' still 8-10 generations, and is almost at old as the United States is. This assumes, of...

    The Calvinist Gospel

I already explained it from the text. The fact that you don't like what the text actually says isn't my problem.

So, Jesus forgot that He was omniscient upon taking a human nature to Himself? It's one thing to veil yourself from omniscience. It's quite another to forget who you are. Even if Jesus didn't know at the time how His words would be parsed, certainly He knew that they would.

    Creation and exegesis

It's this kind of silliness that just wants to make me roll my eyes and walk away, since you don't even put a little bit of critical thought into your claims. The Israelites were in slavery for 400 years. That's not "barely a couple of generations." That's more like 15-20 generations. 400...

And here I thought you believed that God decreed everything that would happen. Unless you don't think Jesus is God.

    Creation and exegesis

No, my premise doesn't rest on that at all. That's just you trying to force me into your pigeonhole. The WRITING of Genesis is a product of ANE culture, and I'm sure Moses had a variety of sources from which to draw in order to write. But Moses wasn't a compiler. He wrote Genesis. And, in...

    Creation and exegesis

The lexical definition is something shaped like a circle. (My source is actually Dr. Walton, whose Ph.D. is in Hebrew and Cognate Studies. He knows the language. And he says that Isa 40:22 refers to a disk, not a sphere. There's another word for that.)

    Creation and exegesis

You really ought to take a language course before trying to stress this. Words mean in context. Especially Hebrew words. In fact, forcing the meaning of a word into another context is a fallacy. And, if you look at the world through ANE eyes, the horizon IS a disk. It is a flat circle that...

There is, but whether they were confused or refused to believe (or wanted verification) isn't relevant to whether Jesus just told them that faith was their work to do.

Apparently you aren't familiar with the GRAMMATICAL CONSTRUCTION known as the "ellipsis." You might want to actually check out what someone says before speaking next time: Figures of Speech - Ellipsis (Elliptical Construction) And Jesus still says that this is a work in verse 27, so that...

If LFW is true, how did we get the Bible?

Do you mean to say that if God doesn't totally control something that He will necessarily fail at anything He does? Or maybe you have a false dichotomy.

If LFW is true, how did we get the Bible?

Well, let's see... the Old Covenant writers were mostly God's PROPHETS... you know the ones that heard from God and spoke to the people, and if they weren't true prophets, they were stoned to death.... So, yeah, they had a pretty close relationship there.... Solomon... Who was the wisest men...
