  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Christ is Born ... Merry Christmas

May the Lord protect and guide the Christians of Egypt, and remind those of us comfortable in the West that we should not take our freedom of worship for granted.

Father James Thornton on Racialism & Orthodoxy

I strongly disagree. America was almost entirely homogeneous until the 1965 Immigration Act which threw open the doors to immigration. Before that time 90+% of the American population was White, with added emphasis on some form of Anglo heritage (English, Welsh, Scottish, Irish). The real...

Father James Thornton on Racialism & Orthodoxy

So a White person cannot be legitimately worried about his race's declining numbers without being labeled a "supremacist"? These are real words that have real meaning. "Supremacist' isn't an insult to hurl around like "evil." I personally agree that America (and European nations in general)...

Revival of Orthodoxy In Russia (Exhibition in Moscow) Video!

From what I understand, former President Putin was also very actively supporting the Russian Orthodox Church and is himself very devout. This true?

    Christ is Born !

A very Merry Christmas to all of you :). I work part-time at a bank, and I met a nice old priest from the Armenian Apostolic Church in the area. He gave me this huge explanation on why Christmas should be celebrated the Orthodox way and not the Western way. I can't remember a darned thing he...

    Choosing A Parish

Any parish - as long as it has little old Ukrainian ladies who are absolute sweethearts :). I found a couple of those at an OCA parish.

    "Catholics come home" movement.

I'm not sure whether that's altogether fair. The movement and the videos are geared toward winning back lapsed Catholics, which are, in the United States, overwhelmingly of the Latin Rite. And those who are not Catholics in the United States that might be inquiring are overwhelmingly of Latin...

    Merry Old Calendar Christmas!

I probably won't be online tomorrow to wish it to you guys but Merry Christmas my Orthodox brethren :). I bet the liturgy will be spectacular.

Does the Church have a future in the Northern hemisphere?

Where I am the Greek Orthodox Church seems rather strong. Probably one of the reasons being is the strong cultural outreach it has with the Greek community. The Church is the center of Greek-American community activity.

    High Mass videos?

Latin Novus Ordo Assumption Mass (1/6) - YouTube Found it :). It's quite beautiful. I attended a midnight Christmas mass for the first time in a small town near my home, and it seemed just bland. I'm a fan of pomp and ritual I guess.

Is it possible to read patristics and remain Evangelical?

Que Dios te benediga tambien, amigo ;).

Is it possible to read patristics and remain Evangelical?

I think a discussion on the merits of evolution is a bit over my head. :D The problem with Mormonism is that there is a big gap. Does the LDS Church have evidence that this apostasy supposedly occurred? I've attempted to read some things by FAIR-LDS (is that their name?), but I haven't found...

    Finally found a Patron Saint

Usually your saint more or less has the same name as you, right? Well what happens if the saint in question was martyred, with very little information on who he or she was?

    The Fall of Constantinople

Well the Crusades in the first place were at the request of the Byzantine Empire. Given that Europe was still largely struggling for the most part, what Europe did offer was actually substantial. Remember, Spain was still fighting Muslim occupation, England was a backwater, the Holy Roman Empire...

Does the Church have a future in the Northern hemisphere?

Not as long as we're here to spread the glorious message of the Church .
