  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Afraid to step on toes, but here it goes...

I don't think that the title of this forum is accurate. It states Eastern Orthodox (Russian, Greek) and Coptic (Assyrian, Ethiopian) Christianity. The Eastern Orthodox section is inadequate, since there are also Antiochian Orthodox (Arabs from the Syria, Lebanon, Israel region). This...

It's from the same website as the first link, just look on the left hand column and click on "The Orthodox Western Rite".

I voted Western Orthodoxy. It's not my actual background or even my current church, but it's what I would attend if I was free to choose.

How do Catholics View Orthodox Christians ?

The same question was asked awhile back and I wrote this thread in response: http://www.christianforums.com/threads/30872.html

Are there any Orthodox Christians here?

On the first question of Orthodox thoughts regarding the Catholic Church (and any other ecclesiastical organization for that matter), I would refer the reader to this post With regard to the second, it would be a mistake to try and put the two, Scripture and the Church, in opposition to each...

    What is your background?

Not sure what you intend by background. I was raised Pentacostal (Assemblies of God), currently attend a Presbyterian Church (Presbyterian Church in America), want to attend an Eastern Orthodox Church (Orthodox Church in America), and am interested in Western Orthodoxy but am troubled by the...

Why R. Catholic and not E. Orthodox?

Eastern Rite Catholics profess the faith of the Catholic Church (ie, they believe in the Immaculate Conception, the Assumption, Purgatory) as well as Papal supremacy and the filioque (even if they don't have to say it.  Basically, they have to agree with everything the Roman Catholic Church...
