  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why are SDA so paraoid of Jesuits?

I don't think everyone is called to die for Christ. The overwhelming message of the beatitudes is how to live well. Liberation theology attempts to change biblical truths to fit within the construct of the modern theory of "social injustice." Christ is my hope and salvation not some movement...

Why are SDA so paraoid of Jesuits?

Weren't the Jesuits behind Liberation Theology? Are they like a splinter cell now in the RCC?

Hey, modern culture is definitely more about what you imagine to be real vs what simply is. Of course they would rather indulge a delusion than adjust their worldview.

It's really something when you find yourself pining for the classical Liberals who used to annoy you... When did it become OK to only defend the free speech that you agree with? I think it's a really sad side-effect of our low culture.

Thanks for sharing Panzer. Great essay. Violence is our nature and constant companion whether we like it or not. To deny it or try to ignore it is more dangerous than any gun (even one with a 30 round clip) will ever be.

The history of gun control in the United States

I don't know anyone who thinks there should be more crime or murders. My biggest issue with government "protection" is that I refuse to give up liberty for perceived safety. Not one modern "mass" shooting was ever about gun control. These were criminal acts carried out by sociopaths. If they...

What are eveyone's favorite Christmas song?

I have always loved O Come, O Come Emmanuel. It is a bit melancholy melodically but it still inspires me with hope. Rejoice! God is with us!

Did the "Early Church saints" hate the Jews?

It is true that it was the urging of the Jews that killed Jesus... but he had been shown that before it happened. Had the Jews not called for his blood how could it have been shed for all? The new covenant does not nullify the old one but the terms of salvation are clear; No longer will God...

Are you pro-life or choice & do you believe souls are created at conception or before

I believe that choice is the way of the Kingdom. I am pro-life because I believe that life is a gift from God. I do not like the thought that many use murder as a form of birth control but I am likewise not the judge. I use the term "murder" in a moral sense not in a legal sense. I think the...

I have to shake my head when I see people in line in front of me at the store using food stamps or WIC to pay for lots of groceries then pull out a wad of cash to cover the cigs and beer. All the time face buried in a smart phone...

Confessing to my brothers in Christ

God loves a strong marriage but this world surely doesn't. Everything in western culture drives us to sin. It's a struggle brother. Be strong. I have to ask myself this question often: "Who does God want you to be?" Not what to do or not do but who to be. Character isn't just a succession...

Shouldn't we have been warned about the Entertainment-Media Complex as well as the Military-Industrial Complex? This election year has to be the most openly partisan I've ever witnessed in my life.

Just in time for the election ...

The political climate this decade has been marked with both sides being played against the middle. The victims are the lion's share of the citizens and the Constitution itself. I don't believe Romney nor Obama were necessarily competent individuals but "party men." I already know what kind of...
