Getting grumpier in my old age

What's your point? Do you think Luther became anti-Christ?

I have repented of all of my sins to God, but my neighbors are HAVING A WAR!!!!

I think you already know, because you seem to be making an excuse for your reaction to them, explaining how you think you're right about it. And it doesn't take a psychologist to see that they are offended by their reaction which you described. As to the WHY, you believe they are unbelievers...

What should we do with false teaching?

"Nobody's perfect" means that there is no one (save Jesus alone) who is infallible. It is difficult understanding new truth when someone speaks it, and even more difficult understanding truth when people say things wrong. Knowing this, we have to take everything we hear with a "grain of salt,"...

I have repented of all of my sins to God, but my neighbors are HAVING A WAR!!!!

The first thing to do is stop retaliating. The loud music you broadcast is good from your point of view, but disturbing to them. Bake some cookies to give to them to break the ice. Cooking takes effort, and is therefore better than store-bought food for starting a friendly relationship. Try...

    Are American declining in moral?

I showed you commentaries to prove it's not my own personal narrative. You appear to be using using that term "personal narrative" to completely reject what I wrote. Historical Christianity has taught that the soul suffers eternally in lake of fire judgment, as implied in Jesus' words in Mk...

    Are American declining in moral?

Firstly, Mat. 10:28 uses the phrase "destroy both body and soul in hell," whereas Luke 12:5 uses the phrase "cast into hell." Therefore, the term "destroy" is associated with Matthew. Here is Jamieson, Fausset & Brown's commentary: "which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell--A decisive...

    Are American declining in moral?

Your response implies: 1. You don't think Luke was quoting Jesus? 2. You formulate a doctrine of eternal punishment on your personal interpretation of a single verse of scripture? 3. Perhaps Luke (or Jesus) was taking poetic license in this verse, do you assume not? 4. How do you reconcile other...

Is it wrong to want more in life?

You could also use 2 Pet. 3:9, that God is waiting for people to repent, since this is written to the churches (ref. 2 Pet 1:1).

    Are American declining in moral?

Great testimony! But yes, I feared hell, and then years later came across this statement of Jesus: "Do not fear those who can kill the body, but afterward can do nothing to you. Rather, fear Him who can destroy both your body and soul in hell (gehenna); I tell you, that's whom you should fear."...

    Are American declining in moral?

Everyone has an opinion. My experience led me to Christ through the fear of God first. Now I depend more on what the Bible says than anyone's sentiment or reasoning. Ps. 105:13 "As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him" - yes, I'm one of those.

    Are American declining in moral?

"Love rejoices in the truth" (1 Cor. 13). The apostle Paul taught the whole counsel of God. And Jesus in the gospels spoke as much of gehenna as He did of the kingdom of heaven. In order to love God as He commands, one must go through the fear of God to find His mercy in Christ. It's good for...

    swirling suicide thought

There are comforts and encouragements in the Bible for times of depression. Perhaps some of these might help: https://www.openbible.info/topics/depression IMO depression can be overcome by understanding the cause and battling it with positive thoughts about God and His mercy. I used to be...

Slaughtered the first born of Egyp

Yes, and they're still sinning and the people are still suffering. Another thing to keep in mind, that many times in scripture it says that God uses sinful people to chastise His own. So what God does is very complex and we need to be careful not to judge His actions with simplistic logic.

Ps 2: 6-8 "Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Thou...
