  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    My Apple Challenge II

If we stop reading and responding to AV's posts that he keeps pulling Ex Cūlus, perhaps he will go away. He seems to be very similar to annoying advertising.

Why do Americans claim that the land belongs to them?

When the first settlers went to America, they said, "This land belongs to God; therefore we have a right to live here." So why are they now not allowing others to settle on the land? They have taken others' property by force, and by force they are checking others from going there. It's...

    My Apple Challenge II

I would...well...just refuse to accept it. There is an extremely high possibility of my being correct. And until further evidence supports you creating an apple from nothing, I'll stick to my answer, like any logical and intelligent person that is familiar with research would do. How about...

Were America right to set off the atomic bomb in Hiroshima AND Nagasaki?

The first bomb was obviously to scare the pants off Imperial Japan and make them surrender. Being such a proud and defensive nation, it took a nuke to open their eyes. The only thing, I think the Yanks dropped the second one just to kick the Japanese while they're down. It was not needed...

Who was, in your opinion, the most important person of the 20th century?

Howard Walter Florey for the development of penicillin as a medicine. Bill Gates for his role in the computer revolution But of course: Albert Einstein takes my vote - (taken from wikipedia) The cover of the magazine (TIME) featured the famous image of Einstein taken in 1947 by American...

    300 Ban?

After reading these replies, it seems that very little of you snapperheads understand the intention of the film. It's a transcript of Frank Miller's graphic novel of the same name. Do you notice how Sin City didn't seem all that realistic..and somewhat comic book like...and, well, offensive...

Top 10 most harmful drugs - Question about alcohol and tobacco.

I should have expanded on that. I mean society at large, rather than the review that produced the results. Thanks for the kick in the bum!

    "Eastern Thought"

Could it perhaps mean the escape from our current material World? In Krshna belief, we are all perpetuating a material existance through re-incarnation and kharmic retribution until we completely submit to Krshna (God, the Universe, every particle in existence) and become one, once again, with...

Top 10 most harmful drugs - Question about alcohol and tobacco.

It's funny also how psychedelics and other boundary/ego dissolving drugs are deemed very dangerous. Most likely very dangerous to the consumer society we live in, cos psychedelics and similar substances usually have the ability of waking life, and allowing you to see the World from a wider...

Vatican anounces 7 new deadly sins

so: Financial gluttony - greed Gene modification - pride Human experimentation - wrath Polluting the environment - sloth Social injustice - envy Causing poverty - lust (not the romantic lust, the lust for material things) Taking drugs - gluttony So, they have just changed the facade of the...

Bicentennial Man It's based on a novel by Isaac Asimov. Blade Runner is from Philip K Dick, who also did Total Recall and Minority Report.

If we had incredibly advanced robots that were just like humans...

It seems in this consumer-oriented materialist World, perfect robot replicas of humans complete with emotion and such would need as much attention as normal humans. However, they would have no ability to transcend themselves because of their lack of spirit that resides in all living entities, so...

    Gangs and Religions

well, gangs seek out rival gangs and to take over their turf and power and so forth. The major religions of the World seem to want to take over rival religion's turf and power and so forth. Gangs duck and weave around the law to get their way. So do religions. etc...

    Gangs and Religions

Just a thought: Is the main difference between religions and gangs in the World the concept that religions stem from a supernatural being and gangs are conceived by a human? I will elaborate as this thread grows, ld like other people's views in this.
