  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What is the greatest threat to the institution of marriage?

Adultry, if it happens divorce, the other biggie, should be imminent.

why do you think divorce is highest amoungst christians?

Hmmm, I come from a southern baptist family on the paternal side... every generation had about 5 kids, I can go back 4 generations with only one divorce. Other side of the family, not really religuous at all - more divorces than I've kept track of.

    Abortion: A question of choice

If the choice is determined at conception (i.e. no abortion) then both parents are equally responsible. Otherwise they aren't. I'm sure many men really appreciate the abortion option, I'm sure alot pressure women to get them when its inconvinent for them. I'm sure deadbeat dads love the...

    Abortion: A question of choice

Fine I'll consider this a disccusion about state-level abortion rights. If the father has no say, you can't legally make him pay child support. No choice = no responsibility. You can't hold someone responsible for someone elses decision without consent. No choice, no responsilbity...

    Abortion: A question of choice

This is what happens when I don't proofread what I write :) I meant that it won't stop abortion. That the justices decided to make believe that abortion was a constitutional right is singificant, it means the states don't have control over something that they legally should have control over...

Al Gore needs to take some anger management!

Perhaps it's really more a consequence of the two-party system. Most people in the US know which party they'll vote for before the campaign begins, something like 80% of the population. Since this 80% is split about 40/40, the campaign focuses on the undecided who presumably don't care a great...

    Abortion: A question of choice

I think you read that wrong, you were the one in the situation through no choice of your own. Yet you are being killed because the person that chose to put you in that situation is now getting hurt by you being in it.

    Abortion: A question of choice

Only in rape cases are the mother and father not equally to blame. In the case of rape, the father has full blame. She may not intend to get pregnant, but pregnancy is a possible consequence of sex, 'protection' or not. My arugment was mostly just a counter-argument to what you said...

Al Gore needs to take some anger management!

You mean poltiics in australia are different? Smear campaigns are so popular because they work so well, its hard to vote for someone you think to be immoral. Not that I pay much attention to the campaigns, but for the many people who don't have a strong preference one way or another, it seems...

    Sex before marriage

I'll pleed guilty to being a perfectionist. If the ideal can't be obtained, it will always irk me, part of the reason I'm so adament about this is that lack of virginity isn't a problem that can be corrected, so it forever prevents perfection. If an ideal can be obtained, however unlikely or...

    Sex before marriage

I just don't see why someone would care about post-relationship fidelity but not pre-relationship fidelity. It can't just be a trust issue... no other lies/acts of mistrust cause nearly the damage of an affair.

    sex before marriage

You might be right about that. It would be a quaint moral law, but it wouldn't have accomplished anything. The sodomy laws certainly didn't.
