  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I recently read this very encouraging message by Pastor Willis at Christ Church Kirkland-nondenom. http://cckirkland.org/MESSAGES/07_03_05.asp

    Some thoughts on satan

I'm curious, how does the first paragraph lead into the rest of the post? Just wondering. I agree that more often than not the "stuff" we're in is probably us in bondage in our own sin. Maybe sometimes people are affected by demons working on satans behalf. To be honest, I haven't looked into...

Is driving over the speed limit sin?

I agree with you. I'm not perfect myself. I think we try to justify ourselves by saying that "everyone else is doing it..." All to often we lower our standards so we feel better about ourselves.

More thanks than I can express

Isa 61:3 - To all who mourn in Israel, he will give beauty for ashes, joy instead of mourning, praise instead of despair. For the LORD has planted them like strong and graceful oaks for his own glory. New Living Translation. Sounds like the Lord was showing His mercy, His strength. Thank you for...

Is driving over the speed limit sin?

PS. I must say that I am in no way perfect when it comes to my driving habits, but this is a reminder that I need to be more aware and more intentional in everything I do.

Is driving over the speed limit sin?

I hate to admit it, but I do believe that we need to respect the law set by those who govern over us as long as it does not contradict God's laws. If you see a cop, what is the first thing you do? I often check the speedometer. Why? Because I a have a fear of being punished for speeding. Why...

Is it OK for Christians to Drink Alchohol?

I agree with the general concensus that alcohol in moderation is fine for most people. I myself have had to make the decision not to drink because it has become a stumbling block for me in my life.

    How dopey was I today?

Know what you mean....I don't mean judged in a negative sence. We can be judged, spoken to, then forgiven-granted we respond to the judgement.

    How dopey was I today?

Yea, I gotta say, I'd rather be judged now than later...

    How dopey was I today?

I've caught myself talking to someone about someone else saying "I hate it when they talk behind my back". At that moment I realized I was doing exactly what I was complaining about!!

    The Narrow Gate

I agree with all of the above. The core message is that there are many "wide", easy ways to go, but they lead to destruction. The narrow way leads to great reward. I must add, I don't really envision this gate to be something you pass quickly though, but something we walk through our entire life.

    Guardian Angels

Probably not one designated to me, but I'm sure I'm being watched out for.

When you know they've had enough.

I view this as one of two things. You be the judge. 1. This could be a time of testing where the way you react to this stressful situation will either grow you and your family or hurt it. 2. This could be God's way of letting you know that changes are in order. I would ask myself, "Tabfry, is...

    How great He is!!!

Thank God for His protection! Reminds me that there are many out there "drowning" who refuse to grab hold of Jesus' out streached hand. He wants to pull us out, but we don't think clearly while thrashing about.
