  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

who thinks fluoride is good for you

I'm sure you look hard enough you could also find scientists who think evolution is a lie. But like your youtube heroes, they don't have any credibility in the real world. They're crackpots, nothing more.

This sounds like a Chuck Norris fact. I suspect this is how he takes his iron supplements. Or maybe iron supplements take some Chuck Norris. Could go either way.

who thinks fluoride is good for you

Are you suggesting some youtube crackpots are more credible than say the american dental association? Are you anti-vaccine as well? In the right amounts, those chemicals can poison people as well, you know.

    Earth Erets Vs Earth Adamah

In the 1st page, I think, I was just talking about god drowning & killing everyone, including innocent people, and then how some christians will call it just or fair solely because god can supposedly kill whomever he wants and it be fair. Mostly unrelated to your original post, though.

    Earth Erets Vs Earth Adamah

I don't disagree that if there was indeed a flood at the time (not unlikely), that it was only a local flood. But every bible i'm aware of describes it as global. I'm sure people have researched this to death, but I'd be surprised if this were a true mistranslation or retelling. Nevertheless...

Cells don't make choices. And that's obviously not what I was talking about.

    Earth Erets Vs Earth Adamah

The bible verses I listed were not the english translations of his verses. The OP picked a small part out of the bible to try and justify the local flood and omitted the rest that clearly suggests a worldwide flood. That is what I was addressing. Follow? I also don't know of any mainstream...

You mean when someone kills because they have been commanded by god?

    Question for Atheists!

The comedic value. What else? But seriously, what's the problem? I like discussing religion & science. In a religion-saturated world, it has and still affects me, sometimes in very negative ways. But I suspect it's mostly because I find it interesting that adults can still believe it. I...

    Earth Erets Vs Earth Adamah

I call it by what it was (had it happened). But I realize some christians think god killing people must be good. Keep it in the family. No.

    Earth Erets Vs Earth Adamah

This is nothing but a rationalization of the biblical flood story to make it sound more reasonable in the face of criticism. But there is nothing reasonable about it. And yet bible clearly states in Genesis 6:17 (NIV): "I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under...

    gen 1:20

There's a problem here - you're taking what people wrote about the sky long before they knew much about it and are trying to rationalize it to what we know today. It's like saying a witch doctor can fit into modern medicine. Sometimes an old explanation or belief is just wrong. And that...

    Question for Atheists!

Thanks for the gentle reminder. Do the pitchforks come out next? And I can't tell if you really believe what you do (by what you're asking), or if you're playing the perfect parody of a fundy christian. Sometimes it's hard to tell. But no, I've never heard of an atheist who believed in...

    Question for Atheists!

From my observations, the more religious someone is, the more enslaved they actually seem. I see nothing liberating about being told I'm a miserable sinner for simply being alive & then groveling for the rest of my life. That's just pathetic & a horrible way to live.

    Creepy Elevator Guy

Glad to see there are others who haven't joined the witch burning. Regarding Watson's supporters, never have I seen such a hateful, irrational witch hunt by the very people who claim to rational, skeptical, or tolerant. Nearly every atheist blog I've seen is dominated by these irrational...
