  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Self-diagnosis, now what?

Hi We all know what you have been through and the confusing thoughts- do I have it/ don't I have it? I don't have time for an in depth write-up now, but just remember, you are the same person with the label as without it! I will try to interject more as time allows... God bless!

To Diagnose (adult) or not to Diagnose?...

Thanks for the feedback! I would think that a diagnosis certainly would confirm many of my suspicions. But then again if I went in and wasn't diagnosed, I guess it would confirm that I am just weird! ;) It always comes back to me things people have said in the past, such as my old boss...

Is there people here with autistic disorder?

Hi Saber, Thanks so much for the advice. I did get the lawyer information from a local Autism Society meeting- but the information may have been skewed since the keynote speaker was a lawyer. I'll have to check into this again. I do know that it varies widely state to state. We have...

Is there people here with autistic disorder?

Yes- we are in USA. However, our system is so screwed up, we did put in for SSI, had him officially diagnosed but he was still turned down. The next step is hire a lawyer to take this to the next level- more $$$ out of our pocket. Also, since he is over 18, we (his parents) are no longer...

To Diagnose (adult) or not to Diagnose?...

To make a long story short, I had a fairly lonely childhood that paralleled what is now commonly known as Asperger's Syndrome (it wasn't diagnosed as such back in the 70s and 80s). My son was diagnosed with PDD-NOS as he was not keeping up in school in 1st-2nd grade. He is now 19 and...

Is there people here with autistic disorder?

I suspect that I have Asperger's (not officially diagnosed- too expensive) but I fit the criteria and am 45. Also, I suspect my dad had it (he was socially inept) and my son is PDD-NOS but is verbal. He is 19 but can't live on his own- he will assistance for a long time from his mom and me.
