  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

please answer a poll about abortion

when it comes down to it what are we talking about here? That would be like me saying that I support capitol punishment but I'm against executions.

    Wierdest double standard

a bit of a sweeping generalization, is it not? On a side note, does anyone else find this entire thread to be as ridiculous as I do? I mean, "when is violence an acceptable response?". with the limitations of the pole are you not weighting the results in the favor of your arguement? How about...

    Should we allow gay marriage.

I also have to agree that the homosexual community has received the brunt of criticism in regards to the overall mass of unrepentant sinners. I do believe that this discussion needs to be more focused on sin in general. We all fall short and we all sin. The character of an individual is not...

Who is best for our country?

What difference does it make? lets remember what happened to the Israelites in the day of Samuel when they cried out for a king. The people will get the government that they wish. I already have a king and will follow Him. I'll let the populace decide what figurehead they wish to sit in the oval...

    Should we allow gay marriage.

I think Judges attributes everyone doing what is right in their own eyes to the human condition. Granted the people were calling for a king to be like the other nations but we also need to look to the warnings that God gave prior to the anointing of a king in 1st Samuel 8:11. God informed Samuel...

    Should we allow gay marriage.

We find ourselves living with a spirit not that far removed from the spirit of the Early Israelites in the time of the judges. We are told in Judges 21:25 that "Every man did what was right in their own eyes". Its real easy to take what we want like from His Word and dismiss what we don't. Ive...

Should Christians oppose gay civil marriage?

I have not read every post in this thread and I may be repeating a post but for how little it's worth, here is my cent and a half. I dont feel that the government should recognize any type of union or marriage. I made a marital pledge to my wife and that was between me and her and the pledge...

    Did Jesus claim Divinity?

With all the discussion and debate it boils down to one thing FAITH. I see so many examples of God trying to be defined and justified through analogies based on the physical world. As a Christian I believe (thats right, believe...Faith driven) that God transcends the "physical laws that we have...

    Did Jesus claim Divinity?

That is totally dependent on the method used to quantify the results. It does not take into consideration any advancement in the methods we use to test or further knowledge gained. An arguement could be made that if further investigation or advancement in knowledge shows that what we held to be...

    Pro lifers: where are you?

So far I see no argument from a pro-choice stance that goes against my assertion that the choices being made are coming directly from a self motivated mindset. I dont want to seem uncaring, I can empathize (as much as a man is capable) with a woman going through an "unwanted" pregnancy. But life...

    Pro lifers: where are you?

No matter what turn of the tongue we wish to use in this discussion the argument seems to boil down to one thing. The pro-choice stance is simply that life does not begin at conception, it begins when the mother makes a choice as to whether or not they want the child. Lets face it we live in a...

Would it be a better world...

When it really comes down to it, we are known by our fruits. How much do we judge others when we attempt to discern whether a person is a "true Christian" or not. Are we not all in different places in our walk with Him? Is this journey not one of moment by moment discoveries and realizations...
