  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Filioque question

Thank you. This was exactly what I was after. I may have to read over SaintPhotios' post a few times, though!

    Filioque question

I realise most of you have answered this question dozens of times before, but... What are the theological reasons why the Orthodox do not accept the Filioque clause ("and the Son") in the Nicene Creed? Now, I understand that the clause was a later addition, and that is reason enough not to...

Shall Jesus Reign Whereever the Sun does His Successive Journies Run?

Of course! At least, it was with ointment - John 12:1-3...

    Head Covering

Let's make sure we look at the actual text: It talks about covering her head, but her hair is given to her as a covering. It doesn't mention "church services" either, but it does refer to praying and prophesying. One other item of interest - Paul is explicitly appealing to the created...

    Advent and Lent

I don't quite see why Advent should be a time of fasting - but I observe Lent, in my own way. This year I gave up coffee. :)

    I found this interesting.

That was very random. I'm not sure what else to say. Except to wonder if Knee-v was quoting Yoda correctly. I thought it might have been, "Leads to anger, fear does."

    infant communion

Hang on - isn't there an inconsistency here? I'm with DrWarfield - if the church is the covenant community, then anyone who is a member of the church should take communion. The Lord's Supper is the covenant meal. Surely "let a man examine himself" applies to adults in the same way "repent and...

    Is Calvin an idol?

You said that you didn't want any sarcastic answers, so I do hope this is OK... Strangely enough - that is also mentioned in 1 Corinthians 1!

    Im curious

This is very interesting. A lot of the time the results of these sorts of quizzes can be taken with a grain of salt, but there are a number of important things to consider here: 1. Many Presbyterian churches do have contemporary christian music, etc. Although there certainly are "Reformed"...

Why I Don't Believe In the Pre-Tribulation Rapture (Or Two Raptures)

MOD HAT ON There are a number of threads in this forum concerning whether the rapture occurs before or after the tribulation. This is fine - and these threads will remain open - as long as people can speak to each other in Christian love. Please make sure that when you post you address only...

    Moderating CF

Regardless of the effect this may have on your application, I think it's wonderful that you and your husband have this attitude.

    John Spong is wrong

Would I offend anyone if I said he is the reason I'm not an Anglican? I'm looking forward to the day when the Anglican church in Australia severs its ties with churches that permit this sort of teaching from their bishops.

What others say about us and our beliefs

On the other hand, I'm sure we would have quite a few mis-conceptions about the "Word of Faith" people. ;)

How to prove a pre-trib Rapture

No, you're quite wrong. In Acts 4:23-31 the believers gathered together, and "raised their voices together in prayer to God".

Help Find OT Allusions In Revelation!

Absolutely! The temple that was built was really puny in comparison. Ezekiel's temple was never meant to be built - it shows that the spiritualising of the temple already happened in the OT. The real temple is the heavenly one. Yes! Which is why the holy city in Rev 21 is coming down from...
