  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Against Sola Scriptura...

Not to state the obvious, but God doesn't work like we do. Is. 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: Rev. 22:13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the...

    Against Sola Scriptura...

Standing Up said: ↑ "Do you believe that God failed to inform or failed to cause either the OT prophets or NT apostles to write down something that you consider necessary to believe, such that if you failed to believe that, you will not be saved?" You do agree in Sola Scriptura with the OP...

    Against Sola Scriptura...

Let's say you wrote a book. How would you know it is finished? How would you know the table of contents? One way is you die. For example, James and John sons of thunder were the first and last apostles to die. That's the apostolic age. Again, let me rephrase this question. FROM So, did...

    Against Sola Scriptura...

Ok, good, 'cause it's not there. So what does the idea mean to say "The Bible alone is the Word of God and the only infallible rule of faith and practice"? To put it in the negative, we do not believe that the OT prophets nor the NT apostles forgot to write something down that is necessary...

    Against Sola Scriptura...

It you are looking for that identical sentence, you won't find it of course. But if I might rephrase the concept; that the Bible alone contains the Word of God for all things salvific. That you will find. To put it in the negative, we do not believe that the OT prophets nor the NT apostles...

How do we know that Luther made right decision in removing OT books from canon

But that was the assertion, that the RC Bible did. It didn't. More than that we can be fairly sure based on Josephus what Christ and the apostles were using. It's widely thought that the Septuagint contained the deuterocanon as on par, but it's far from clear if that was true at that time...

How do we know that Luther made right decision in removing OT books from canon

It's an interesting distinction that could be better termed prophecy (OT) and fulfilled prophecy (NT). But then that is what they thought per Josephus and 1 Macc says it as well. It excludes itself on that same ground. So no, the apostolic era from the first and last apostles to die...

How do we know that Luther made right decision in removing OT books from canon

Its a false statement. The reason certain books were not considered as God-breathed (canonical) is because the valid line of prophets had ceased about Artaxerxes time. Josephus who overlapped the times of the apostles the beginning of Church history wrote this. "8. For we have not an...

    The Lord's supper

1 Corinthians 11:27 - 29 Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without...

Who is the woman in Revelations 12?

You may be referring to the woman of Rev 12 as in pain giving birth. Since RCC views Mary as without sin from her conception, it would be impossible for her to be under the condemnation of Eve. Under RCC view, Mary was not in pain during childbirth. At the same time, believe you are right...

    Is the Eucharist a Sacrifice?

It is an interesting contrast between the Aaronic and Melchizedek priesthoods. As you see, the Hebrew or Aaronic High Priests offered up daily sacrifices because the sacrifices merely covered sins, but couldn't take away sins (Heb. 10:11). But Christ offered Himself once for all and then sat...

    When Rome Fell

I didn't explain it well. Not pagan government alone who tried to rule the world from Babylon, to Medes, Persia, Greece, to Roman Empire, but the fear that that would arise out from within the temple of God (the church, the body of Christ). The idea was that the Roman Empire "held back" the...

    When Rome Fell

According to a book I'm reading, the fear wasn't that the end of the Roman Empire meant the end of Christianity, but rather the end of the Roman Empire meant the man of sin (mystery of lawlessness) would be revealed. The Empire was holding it back, until gone. The early church fathers...
