8 counties in northern Colorado (plus 2 from Nebraska) want to form their own state

I can see how that might make sense for the Northern Colorado-ans & Nebraskans. They'd be better able to write laws that reflect their rural perspective away from Denver. The rest of Colorado would actually probably benefit by allowing the counties to go, too. Rural areas generate fewer tax...

    Homosexuals and Bisexuals

Smaller does not mean "nearly nonexistent." If the presumed number of gay people is a very low 1%, and the percentage of respondents was .01%, then it is not a representative sample. That is bad statistics. Possibly there was a selection bias of some kind, and the few gays that they managed...

    Prove something to me...

Hey now, I think Open also made a good faith effort, and I sort of want to know the answer to his questions: At question is evil, so we do need a working definition of evil as well as a definition of good. Since your definition of good revolves around freedom, would you agree that some forms...

Michael Cunningham: The Children's Crusade - End of Days?

Our morals have certainly changed but what the story illustrates has more to do with the changing nature of media reporting and the way we compile statistics. As others have pointed out, I don't think that things have gotten worse. However, our standards for "bad" have also slipped so that...

Please take my survey on religion and sexual morality

The questions appeared to be about whether the acts were inherently sinful. So, if you believe that the acts were okay in at least some circumstances the survey appeared to want a "yes" answer.

    Modern Christian Stories

Someone I respect once said that the only True Christian died two thousands years ago. Seriously though, if you're going for theologically unsound Christian stories, look to Chick tracts.

Survey: Christians' Opinions about Atheists' Morality

I can also call others good or bad based on the same criteria. Actually, I can go even further than that. It's possible to learn enough about other people's moral beliefs to judge their actions against their own opinions of morality and ethics.

    Living Without Recognition

Hey now. It's really confusing. The Constitution party wants to destroy the constitution. The GOP "fiscal conservatives" spend more money than anyone and can't balance a budget to save their lives. Since there are so many "libertarians" here on CF, it's just plain mean to bring definitions...

If you knew God loves you would you still want to sin?

You'll never convince anyone of that while Christians on this site revel and wallow in death and hatred. Also, some Christians here sure do love their pride. Almost enough so that they forget to be good people.

    Living Without Recognition

How convenient. You're denying others things that you don't want. I don't want to be a Christian. I guess I think that it should be illegal to be one. /No I don't. //But then again, I'm glad not to be what you are.

Killing in the name of GOD: Awesome! (Numbers 25)

He was serious. This isn't the first time he's done this. There are other people here that agree with him. The problem is that if you ask me to make a determination about who is and who is not a Christian, you may find that I exclude you from that group. So it's much easier to take people's...

Marriage is in a culture war is about having no accountibility

The problem with that whole paragraph is that the people he's talking about want there to be more marriages instead of fewer and they want them to last longer instead of shorter.
