  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Actually, Mitch Albom writes for a Detroit Newspaper, in the sports section. He's also got a radio show.

    LOTR christian or not?

ahem. Any any all "magic" found in Tolkien isn't acquired by spells and what not. They're all abilities attributed by the creator. i.e. Gandalf is not human. He uses magic. It isn't anything EXTRA, but a part of him. It's like our ability to talk or to taste or to see. Same thing for him.

The Five People You Meet In Heaven

Trust me man, it's well worth the read. If you don't know how to die, you don't know how to live. :)

It was at Antioch that the Believers were...

...first called Christians. I figured I'd start this off in a unique way. I'm a part of a youth ministry called "Antioch" of which I am a leader at Antioch Muskegon and a co-director of Antioch Grand Rapids. I'm from Grand Rapids, Michigan. I'm Roman Catholic, and after posting a bit, I...

    Scrubs?

I dig. Although, my name might not work with it. "The Paul" I was named after St. Paul. Anyway, people tell me that I look like Zach Braff, who plays J.D. and it's true, I really do look like him. lol

    Scrubs?

    Scrubs?

I'm a HUGE Scrubs fan. I'm looking forward to the DVD releases this year! (there will be at least 2 seasons, if not 3 season released on DVD this year). I just watched it for the first time this year and have since gotten all caught up on the show via recording methods.

    Rumors about the Matrix

Allow me to go on record and say that yes, by all means, is the Matrix Trilogy loaded with Christian allegory. I can say that without a shadow of a doubt in my mind. Yes, the downside is that much of it is based in Gnosticism. However, I choose to take only the Christian elements of it to heart...

    Mere Christianity!

This was probably the first book that I read of C.S. Lewis' after years of watching the Chronicles of Narnia films, and the animated Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe. It's also gotta be one of the best books I've ever read. It's well written, easy to read, and easy to understand.

The Five People You Meet In Heaven

This was a fascinating book. No, it didn't tell how to get to Heaven, but it does give another perspective. It's purpose wasn't to show how to get to heaven at all, but rather, to show the interconnectedness of the whole world.
