  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Who chooses who?

Does God have the ability to choose which humans to create? For example, when he saw my blueprint, could he have chosen to give life to another human in my place?

    Who chooses who?

Does God create people with the prior knowledge that they will use their free will to choose not to believe in him?

    Who chooses who?

How is it clear? If you know all possible outcomes of all of your choices, then you predetermine the future with every action that you choose to make, willingly or otherwise. Or does god not make choices, is he bound to carry out actions that are against his will? If, hypothetically speaking...

    Who chooses who?

If a god exists and is onmipotent then he: 1. Knew the choice you would make even before you existed and 2. Had a choice as to whether or not to create you So effectively, if God exists, there is no choice. It was all predetermined by him. Which begs the question, what kind of horrible...

Change my opinion or change my church

Perhaps, if you believe in a loving god and find comfort in your beliefs. Worship him privately without going to church. As I understand it, the bible does not insist on attending church. Perhaps I'm wrong on that, not sure? It's good that that you use your own faculties to arrive at your own...

How long will this universe last?

Forgot with regards to the question of how long the universe will last. From a quick look up it will be a googolplex years. That's 1 with 100 0's behind it.

How long will this universe last?

13.7bn years old I think current consensus is that the sun will die in around 5 billion years. No reason to doubt the Earth will still be orbiting right up until the engorged sun consumes it. Save for outside forces. Andromeda will 'collide' with the Milky Way in about 4 billion years but it...

Do people have, categorically, the moral right not to be vaccinated?

Regards the OP I think people have the right to refuse to be vaccinated only after they are old enough to understand the implications. Regards the morality of it, I'm on the fence. However, any parent that prevents their child from being vaccinated should be prosecuted for child abuse

    The mind of an Atheist

Wasn't that the point I was making?

    The mind of an Atheist

I am not a scientist. The last time I studied science was when I was 16 years old in secondary school (UK). I'm now 36 and have yet to be convinced that a God exists. Where do I fit into this?

    The mind of an Atheist

So what's the default position with regards to Hinduism? Or the existence of Fairies or Leprechauns?

    The mind of an Atheist

Burden of proof switching much? Theism claims a deity exists, I've not been convinced by those claims. That is all. Deities may well exist but until I am convinced in balance of probability that they do then I'll reserve judgement.
