Please explain if no one is predestined

God gives faith to some, saving them, and leaves the rest to their just condemnation.

Could Both Arminianism and Calvinism be Wrong?

The Canons of Dordt (the synod's response to the 5 Points of Arminianism) are very convincing to me that Arminianism is wrong and Calvinism is correct: https://www.crcna.org/welcome/beliefs/confessions/canons-dort Please note that Calvinism was not invented by John Calvin, and Arminianism was...

    Regeneration

According to Jesus, one cannot even see/perceive, let alone enter the Kingdom of God, without first being born again. (regenerated) (John 3)

Predestination and free will "at the same time"

It is possible, and that is called "compatibilism". It means that God's decree and man's free choices are compatible with each other, (rather than incompatible.) and that it is logically consistent. (Disclaimer: Im a full-fledged Calvinist) How can both be true simultaneously? The Bible gives...

    Who did Jesus die for?

Because verse 12 says "death spread to all men because all sinned" <--this is referring to what Adam did that affected everyone he represents. And then verse 16 says "the free gift is not the result of that one man's sin (Adam's)..but the free gift brought justification." And the Apostle Paul...

Predestination is not the issue, regeneration is

It may be a "type" of regeneration, the concept, sure, but when most people are discussing this, they are referring to Regeneration proper, the actual doctrine of the new birth. That's certainly what I meant by the word in this thread, as it helps my puny brain categorize things.

    Who did Jesus die for?

And this is the line of reasoning I refuted in my post. Check it out and let me know what you think. The word "many" just means "a bunch of people". It doesn't necessarily mean "not 100%". Nor does it necessarily mean "100%". It depends on the context. Adam's fall affected many = in this case...

I've been a baptist all my life but am becoming slowly convinced of pedobaptism

Sure. I'm still learning myself but I can try to explain what my understanding is. There are many denominations that practice pedobaptism but they don't all baptize for the same reason. So, I will be explaining what I understand to be the reformed/covenantal view of pedobaptism. (I could be...

    Who did Jesus die for?

Gotta be honest, I laughed out loud when you argued that Jesus died for "all" sinners, then proceeded to quote verses (and bold) that had the word "many" As for your argument, I think a proper understanding of the verse is this: "the many" in both parts of Paul's argument is...

Predestination is not the issue, regeneration is

No it's not. Here's a link to an Arminian website (quoting Jacob Arminius himself) talking about regeneration... Arminius on Regeneration

Predestination is not the issue, regeneration is

Please note that synergism isn't talking about our active participation in the christian life. It's talking specifically about whether or not we contribute to our own conversion (regeneration). Ie, is our willingness to abandon our sins we love so much for the Christ we hate (by fallen nature)...

Predestination is not the issue, regeneration is

In this thread, I'm only interested in discussing the vital turning point of when a person goes from unbelief/not-justified to belief/justified. The question is whether the decisive impulse is the result of a mixture of the person's will/natural faculties and God's grace, or if it's just God's...

Predestination is not the issue, regeneration is

Isn't the doctrine for long-term work of restoration technically called/known as sanctification, by theologians? Also, Arminains do not say that regeneration is what helps the sinner come to faith - they say it's "prevenient grace"

I've been a baptist all my life but am becoming slowly convinced of pedobaptism

The man in question definitely sounds confused about his salvation, and it is sad that he puts his trust in his baptism for salvation. However I can confidently say that such a view is not the (reformed, covenantal) view of pedobaptism that I am leaning towards. Blessings!
