  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Thou shalt not kill

Dear Ananel, I wish that you could open up your heart beyond the technical grammatical blinders that you currently have on. To kill is to kill, whether it is in reference to a human or animal. The bible states thou shalt not kill. It does not specifically say for humans. It is general and...

    Thou shalt not kill

Dear 2Timothy2, Thank you for your heartfelt questions, as your soul is warm and kind. In response to your questions, In Genesis 1:29 and 1:30, it states that both man and all of the beasts, fowl and everything that creepth were given every green herb for meat. I do believe in creation, yet...

    Thou shalt not kill

Magisterium, How can you justify taking one part of the Bible as literal, and then dismiss others. The bible says kill, does it not? Even if it does mean murder, what does murder mean? Does the word murder limit it to humans? I think not my friend. I agree with you about abortion, as I am anti...

    Thou shalt not kill

Theywhosowintears, No disrespect to you or your culture, but I have read that some of the Navajo (Native Americans) believe that the native people of the Earth have been punished through persecution for their past actions. I think the key here is to open up your heart past the dogma of...

    Thou shalt not kill

Ananel, Honestly, I am not too much into theology, so I only skimmed through your discussion. You did put much time into it though. Thank you for your open mind and I will try to explain. My friend Frodo (who wrote that passage) is Italian, so his English is a little lacking. I still love him...

    Thou shalt not kill

Humans are supposed to be stewards of the Earth and have INTELLIGENCE to choose right from wrong. Therefore, there is NO EXCUSE for someone who eats meat. There to main reasons as to why people eat meat. A friend of mine has explained. It might be confusing at first, but open up your heart. For...

    Thou shalt not kill

So, let's say we believe the Bible literally, but change certain passages to suit your personal arguements and justifications about your lifestyle. Do you honestly think that people can get away with killing animals by stating that God really meant don't kill each other? Justice will be served...

    Thou shalt not kill

By Bill Moyers, The Star Tribune, February 1st, 2005 One of the biggest changes in politics in my lifetime is that the delusional is no longer marginal. It has come in from the fringe, to sit in the seat of power in the Oval Office and in Congress. For the first time in our...

    Thou shalt not kill

Shy21, You are correct. Animals do feel pain and God has instructed humans to have dominion over all things. However, that means watching over and taking care of, not doing with as we please. People's hearts are hardened or they do not want to open up their eyes to the fact that eating animals...

Houseape, I appreciate your views and opinions and I agree with you. It is just very perplexing to me why Christians think eating meat is acceptable. Peace to you monkey man.

    Thou shalt not kill

Dear xtxArchxAngelxtx, Eating a piece of fruit from a tree, does not kill the entire living plant. This is completely different from killing an entire animal to satisfy lust for eating flesh. HouseApe, I do not understand your point. How can you selectively take certain parts from the...

    Thou shalt not kill

Shy21, Thank you for your sincerity. You have a warm heart. God created all of the animals and it is our responsibility to take care of them. Therefore, this means that we are to introduce a vegetarian diet into our lifestyle. By eating meat, you move farther away from God, as you are directly...

    Thou shalt not kill

I sincerly thank you for some of your heart-felt questions. However, some are very hard-hearted and cannot think beyond the current lifestyle one lives. We should not eat meat because doing so causes so much suffering and pain within the world. So many animals are needlessly killed to suit our...
