  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Lived in TX for a while but am now back in CO (near Grand Junction).

    The Best Thing about Colorado

It's hard to think of anything bad about Colorado. I live in a small town in SW CO, and in addition to having clean air, beautiful scenery, and hiking and jeeping trails starting almost in my backyard, there is the calming sense of peace and quiet that really brings me closer to God. Sometimes...

    Enoch

The usual answer is that God can inspire words, sentences, or parts of a book without inspiring the whole work. Paul quotes pagan writers, for example, but no one assumes that these authors' works were divinely inspired. So, the writings of Enoch can contain true prophetic insight without being...

Aproblem of Bible translation ,meaning, or inconsistency, which?

I've been involved in many discussions on this topic over the years, and while I can't offer a definitive answer, I'm confident there is no contradiction. No one has seen God in His pure spiritual essence (for lack of a better term), for He is too holy to look upon, but He has been seen in...

    "You Also?"

Just to hazard a guess, the context of 2:11-22 concerns the unity between Gentiles and Jews as God's people. So, the "you also" refers to Gentile Christians who are as much as part of God's holy temple as are believing Jews. Whether this is an accurate word-for-word translation or not, the...

    NIV NLT NASB translations...

It's been my experience that when anyone who tells you that a certain version is "evil" or dishonors Christ, they usually have an agenda of their own and are not to be trusted. Read the various translations on your own and pray for guidance in choosing one (if you decide to use only one). Of the...

    Decidedly Celibate Singles

That's exactly how I feel. I think that I will marry one day, since I believe that God wants me to have a partner in my service to Him, but until then I'll go it alone and remain celibate.

A question about a certain few verses in Leviticus...

It is frustrating when God doesn't do things according to our timetable. The fact is that He did end slavery, many centuries later, and Christians were at the forefront of the abolition movement (both in England and America).

What's your reasoning behind your "singleness"?

Like most of us, there is no reasoning or plan to my being single. I just am. I'm not resisting marriage, and as soon as I meet the right woman, the woman that God has picked out for me, I will be happy to marry her. It just hasn't happened yet.

    EASTER--Literally!!!!

It seems that the only real contradiction adduced by Aikido7 is the time of the Ascension, but this is based on his assumption that Luke 24:50-51 records the event as happening on the same day as the appearance in vv.36-49, rather than forty days later (as Luke states in his other book...

    Predetermined?!

It's a complex question. God can use sin to further His purposes, but sin never pleases Him, and He is not directly responsible for anyone's sin. A good example is the Crucifixion. God ordained that Jesus would die on the cross (He did not simply foresee it, Acts 4:27-28), but those who carried...

How Long Have you Been Single?

My last serious relationship was about three years ago. I haven't had much interest in casual dating recently; and since my last church had no singles group it was difficult meeting eligible women anyway.  :(

    guide me please

The last thing I want to do is get involved in a controversy, but your comments are simply not relevant to this passage and others like it. It is true that "LORD God" translates YHWH Elohim in many places throughout the Old Testament (the NIV uses this expression, just as the KJV does). But...

    guide me please

Actually, the NIV preface explains why they use the term "Sovereign LORD." The Hebrew name for God (usually spelled Yahweh) is rendered "LORD" in the NIV, as in most other versions (notice the all caps). The word adonai is translated as "Lord" (not all in caps), which is what the word means...
