  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Determining What You Believe

HML, Sorry I took so long to get back to you. Based on your answers, I can tell you that you are mostly a mainstream Pentecostal who rejects Word of Faith (prosperity gospel) teaching. You would fit quite well in most AoG churches, except for the fact that you lean towards Calvinism. AoG and...

Pentecostals and Charismatics: Their Differences and Similarities

Post what you believe, and I'll probably be able to tell you which church/denomination you most closely aligned with. But let's start new thread, as this goes off topic a little: Determining What You Believe ---

    Determining What You Believe

Post what you believe, and we can probably determine which church/denomination you most closely aligned with: 1. Does God allow pain or suffering? A: Always B: Sometimes C: Never 2. Does God cause pain or suffering? A: Always B: Sometimes C: Never 3. Is it God’s will to heal Christians? A...

Pentecostals and Charismatics: Their Differences and Similarities

I should add another : Worship Style Pentecostal: More formal, with a more formal dress code (suits in the pulpit are common) Charismatic: Less formal, with a less formal dress code (jeans and T-shirts in the pulpit are common)

Pentecostals and Charismatics: Their Differences and Similarities

To give some background here, this wasn't a 'shoot from the hip guessimate' of the differences between Pentecostal and Charismatic. I have researched this subject extensively over the years, and have attended numerous Charismatic and Pentecostal churches in three countries, which is why I...

Pentecostals and Charismatics: Their Differences and Similarities

Here are the differences. But please keep in mind these are the historical, classical and stereotyped differences, therefore there are many exceptions. Roots Pentecostal: 1906 - Azusa Street Revival 1906 Charismatic: 1960s and 1970s - The Jesus Movement (US) Sovereignty of God Pentecostal...

    The TITHES

Let's pretend that we are completely legally bound to pay the OT Tithes: Levitical Tithe: No Tithe possible. Because Levites in Israel now own land in Israel (they are no longer banned from owning land). Even if it were possible, this is only if you had ten animals born this year, or a...

    The TITHES

My sources: The Bible. Like I said earlier, Levites had jobs just like everyone else. They lived all over Israel, and worked in the Temple only 2 weeks a year. The Tithe was because Levites had no inheritance in the land. Levites were not allowed to own land. This was the only reason for...

    The TITHES

If it's similar, then you are saying that most believers should not tithe. Because most of God's people were not required to tithe in the OT. Simon

    The TITHES

The Levitical Tithe was very clear that it was only the tenth of any newborn livestock and a tenth of the increase of any crops. Flocks and crops ONLY. The only people who tithed were: 1. Landowners/farmers (not their workmen) who had reaped a crop. 2. Flock owners (not their shepherds) who...

    The TITHES

Thread has been hijacked. Please start a new thread to debate Pauline theology. It was mostly the wealthy who tithed in the ot and nt. Only those who owned large flocks or owned crops tithed.

    The TITHES

Sorry, but I'm not impressed that you visit the sick and elderly, the problem is twofold: 1. Christians should be doing all these things. The church should not be hiring someone to do it for them. 2. You're being paid to visit people, it's your job, it only impresses the ignorant. When...
