  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    hate

:sigh: such is the human condition, I guess. While a human can feel much more compassionate and fufilled trying to live a life free of hate, i must argue that no human was free of good and bad things, it is all part of being human. Jesus, Buddha, and other religious figures that take the form of...

    (Rethinking) Gender

benefits to gov from same sex marriage

Personally, I think it boils down to principles of democracy. If the government becomes involved with discrimination against anything, positive or negative discrimination included, then it is on shady ground. When a government begins to pick favourites on religious principles, the country is a...

    Global Warming

Looking at the issue through the point of an individual with faith in a benevolent deity, it might be argument enough to say contentedly: "<deity> has a plan for us all." With global warming, however, they may have considered that their deity may have instrumented global warming as a test of...

    Global Warming

I agree with all three, to some extent. While the UK, a small island country, might be a prime position for a good media scare, I also believe that we humans have not done quite enough for our planet, and persist in our philosophy of sit-and-wait. You need to look no further than the petrol...

    Why are there Alien Worlds?

has anybody considered this possibility however. A deity, a creator figure, may have created the universe in its entirety and may well have dominion over all of it? It seems a little arrogant of humans, who, on the scale of things, are very insignificant, to believe a supreme creator figure...

Why is gay sex still a sin

backtracking to the origin of the thread, I would like to add a riposte. Was leviticus, the book where most of the condemnation of homosexuality comes from, not written by the Pharisee, a people Jesus has been shown to have opinions contrary to? and yet not only literalists, but a large portion...
