  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    What does "liberal Catholic" mean?

I believe God is omnipotent, and therefore fully capable of working around us. That said, I am not a priest of the Roman Catholic Church, so I couldn't care less what HH Benedict would say about the matter. I answer to my Bishop, and to him alone. We are making progress. I too believe God is...

    What does "liberal Catholic" mean?

Please, let's not appeal to one's educational level. That could be the tactic of arrogance. I'm not unfamiliar with the "straw man" argument. It's just been a long time since I've used it. A Thread about Nothing

Please explain what you mean about "fundamentalist bretheren" limiting God. Maybe we can go a little deeper here.

We're on the same page brother. You just put it in different words.

    A Thread about Nothing

God did not make the universe out of nothing. He made it by his own unlimited power. Power is energy and energy can be converted into matter. Creation science is very scientific. Evolutionists have nothing to start with. Not even an unlimited source of power.

Are Catholic's born again, as Jesus said?

The new birth is a birth of faith in Jesus Christ as the Saviour from sin. Many Protestants and Catholics believe that Jesus is their Saviour. Many however in both camps do not have that faith. Some are sheep and some are goats. Just like Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice...and they follow me."

    Question about Old Earth

A global flood like Noah's would make the earth look a lot older than it really is. It's no surprise that a lot of people think the earth is millions of years old.
