  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Poll:Should couples live together before marriage?

Hmmm ... a very vexed question if you ask me. I have done both (cohabited without marriage in one relationship and in another, got married before living with him). Both relationships ended in tears, sadly, for me and those partners were simply just not compatible. I really am not keen on the...

    Christian Forums ID

No, I don't see the point on a forum like this. It seems too honest a place for hiding behind false identities. I have done that kind of thing on other forums in the past, particularly the more jokey kind of forums. It was a phase I was going through at the time, where I was spending way too...

Have you turned into your mother yet?

Hi there Suzy! The title of your post made me LOL even before I read the main text of it! Although I love my mother dearly, she is a wonderful woman with a beautiful generous nature and a forgiving heart (she would have to be to be MY mother!) I have always avowed that I wanted to be MYSELF...

I heard this was a lovely forum

Thank you Lady Trekki and Zinnia for the welcome. I have been busy looking around and found much to interest me. I'm just learning how to bless other people, thanks to Lady Trekki and I have been spreading some around. The sci-fi and the music forums have been mainly where I've posted, but...

What are you listening to now? V. 1 Billion (11)

Kate Bush's Aerial album Octavarium by Dream Theatre oh ... and I've been listening to Peaceman's music and some other stuff by friends of mine

    Rush and Dream Theater fans???

Cool thread! I am passionate about my music as with many things in life. I first heard Rush back in the 80s when I used to swap music with friends, but I kinda forgot about them until about three years ago, when I was hearing them a lot. I collected all their studio albums and thus began my...

    This place is fantastic

Strange coincidence ... so do I! Hahaha! I find this funny and so will Peaceman ... for reasons that will become evident later! ;)

What do you like and dislike about Fantasy?

I realise that I've come into this thread a little late, as many ideas have already been discussed. What I dislike about fantasy is more to do with the (undeserved) reputation that it has, rather than fictional and dramatic elements used by its writers. Fantasy lovers have always had to...

    Best Star Trek captain

I have to agree there. I have a lot of respect for Archer and Janeway, but my loyalties always lie with Picard, for Strom's reasons and for quite a few of my own. ;) As for Patrick Stewart the actor, I have enjoyed watching him in other non-Trek roles and appreciate what a fine actor he is...

    The Advantage of the No-Churched

Personally I find attending a particular church too restricting for the way I am. I can understand that a lot of worshippers love the structure of a formalised service, and to see their fellow believers around them surrounded by love and fellowship, but somehow it just doesn't work for me...

I heard this was a lovely forum

Greetings! I heard that this was a really beautiful place with warm, loving members, so I thought I would join. I need an antidote from message forums full of spite and disrespect, which sadly so many of them are. So here I am on my spiritual journey, and I'd like to make some friends here...
