  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    "Bob Dylan's God-Awful Gospel"

Here is how he currently ends his concerts, a cover of a song from the 30's: STAY WITH ME Should my heart not be humble, should my eyes fail to see, Should my feet sometimes stumble on the way, stay with me. Like the lamb that in springtime wanders far from the fold, Comes the darkness and the...

    "Bob Dylan's God-Awful Gospel"

Here is a song from his 1970 album New Morning. It is a Jewish praise song: FATHER OF NIGHT DYLAN Father of night, Father of day Father who taketh the darkness away Father who teacheth the bird to fly Builder of rainbows up in the sky Father of loneliness and pain Father of love and Father of...

    Frozen

I just watched Frozen on dvd and I just have to make it one of my all time favorites! Not to mention just say the words "lets build a snowman" around any kids and you will start a song fest! The movie could have a scripture reference with the verse "perfect (true) love casts out fear". Along...

    "Bob Dylan's God-Awful Gospel"

Yes, many people have made fun of his nasal way of singing (even Joan Baez in good nature), but it worked for him in what he was trying to do with his music. He was all about the words and the music, the way he sung it sort of hammered the words. Also he has always been like "he that hath ears...

Why do you consider yourself a liberal Christian?

It was in 1964. You may have heard the Byrds version, if you were in the 60's. Here is a Bruce Springsteen version in East Berlin (before the fall) in 1988: Springsteen - Chimes of freedom - East Berlin 1988 - YouTube One of the greatest songs about freedom ever sung - a hundred thousand...

Why do you consider yourself a liberal Christian?

Here are some excerpts from "Chimes of Freedom", my favorite Dylan song, that perfectly describe why I am liberal: "Chimes of Freedom" ......... Flashing for the warriors whose strength is not to fight Flashing for the refugees on the unarmed road of flight ......... Striking for...

Do We All Have Personality Disorders?

If you have his autobiography, he goes pretty deep into the making of "Oh, Mercy" and some other songs he had at the same time. "Dignity", "Ring them Bells" and "Series of Dreams". Oh, I love that last one! I like your signature saying from Nietzsche: It reminds me of Bob's song "My Back...

    Memorable Movie Quotes

“You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.” ― Abraham Lincoln Surely that must be in a movie, LoL.

Do We All Have Personality Disorders?

Yes, when you base personality disorders solely on how one relates to the culture, then most everybody is included. I did spend 7 & 1/2 years in weekly individual and group therapy with 2 wonderful psychologists. I needed every minute of it to find my own "sense of self". It turned my life...

    "Bob Dylan's God-Awful Gospel"

Here are a few lines from another song on the "Slow Train Coming" album: "Jesus said, “Be ready For you know not the hour in which I come” Jesus said, “Be ready For you know not the hour in which I come” He said, “He who is not for Me is against Me” Just so...

Federal judge: Arguments against gay marriage 'are not those of serious people'

I really like how you are very articulate and well spoken in your posts. I think what you said is exactly right. Often we base what we believe, really, by what others who we look up to say about it, even if it is the Bible. As we get older, our beliefs and understandings change. I just want to...
