  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Catholicism in the churches

our churches back home had formality and were very liturgical, so that's not an issue. Maybe it was my geographical location, but smells and bells were not the norm. The church up here has a tabernacle, although more decorative and not used for the host, and altar candles around it like one...

    new to episcopal church

I did know that pres and Episcopalians held differing doctrinal views and differing views on polity. The priest did tell me that I need to get my baptismal records sent over, or at the very least tell them the date and year and where and they will get it on file.

For those who came to AC/EC from other denominations

I just recently started attending an episcopal church. I am a Presbyterian, but when I moved I found the prebyterian churches in mu new city to be unfriendly and distant. I went to one episcopal church and met with the priest of the other in town. The fact that he made time to explain things...

thank you for the response and the link. I will check it out. Sounds pretty standard as far as church membership goes, as in the classes.

    new to episcopal church

I have attended an episcopal church in my new town and I must say I was pleased by the warm response I received and the richness of the liturgy. I come from a Presbyterian background. I actually see similarities between the two faiths, at least in the content of the sermons. I know many...
