  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Is it wrong to have a gender identity disorder?

I'm of the belief that gender is mostly socially constructed. Look at the color pink. Today, pink is considered a woman's color. Boys and men are discouraged from wearing too much pink, or for having too much pink stuff, or for saying their favorite color is pink. Baby boys dressed in pink...

I believe in Jesus, but I cannot accept some mainstream Christian beliefs.

It's interesting that JWs believe that paradise will be created on earth. So does that mean the earth will last forever, regardless of happenings in the rest of the universe? By the way, I'm not criticizing--I really want to know. I don't know what to believe myself, so I'm hardly in any...

if I'm positive you should be too

I agree. It's just another example of being "holier-than-thou." I'm generally optimistic, but I hate it when someone tries to make me cheer up when I'm in a bad mood. It really only makes me feel even more ticked off.

    Seeking "Old Earth" Christian Church

The Catholic Church believes in theistic evolution. That's all I know.

Did Feminism spoil nature's great con?

People aren't things. And believe it or not, it's not a choice between "pushover" and "aggressive." There is some middle ground. I'm as uninterested in a man who thinks he is lesser than me, than in one who thinks he is greater than me. And the idea of men's value being related to how many...

Did Feminism spoil nature's great con?

That article is awful. It's so sad that she's bringing her daughters up to be helpless. Do children "con" their parents? Do pets "con" their masters? Do slaves "con" their overseers? What things like that article suggest is that women are too stupid to look after themselves. Of course...

Death: a state of sleep untill Jesus comes

Just a quick question. I was under the impression that JWs believed that most people returned to a state of non-existence when they died, only to be resurrected on the last day, but that 144,000 went straight to heaven to hang around until the resurrection. But in one of the posts I read that...

    Should the Pope resign?

Why should the Catholic Church keep a leader who is corrupt? I'm not saying that our current Pope is corrupt. But if he is, he should resign. Then again, if he is corrupt, he probably won't.

Does it matter where I worship?

Well then, most Catholics I know are nominal Catholics. It could be for practical reasons that one attends a different church. Maybe the Catholic church is too far away, or they're allergic to incense, or it's too crowded and they get anxious, etc. Maybe they don't feel that the way that...

    Gay & Christian ...thoughts?

I pretty much agree with what Texas Lynn and Polycarp1 have been saying. I don't see a problem with a Christian being gay, or a gay person being a Christian.

    do you find this offensive?

Yes, I do find that offensive. It's demeaning both to religion and to women. PETA has used this tactic for years. They will, on rare occasions, objectify men to make it "fair," but the vast majority of the time, women are the ones who are objectified. "I'd rather go naked than wear fur" and...

Should the world's oldest profession be illegal?

Yes, I think it needs to be legalized. It needs to be drug out into the open and heavily regulated against human rights abuses. Don't kid yourselves--a large percentage of sex workers are not doing what they do out of choice. Sex trafficking is a huge problem, and the government turns a blind...

    Errors of Vatican II...???

Why is holding hands during the "Our Father" being lumped together with the rest of those things? The Church condemns those last three practices, but I know we held hands during the "Our Father" at our church...

    David Jeremiah

It really depends on the context. Did you turn off the TV after he said that, or can you provide us with some other things he said regarding the subject?

Does it matter where I worship?

Not all Catholics think you have to worship at a Catholic church, or even take Communion there. That's a belief held among the more traditional, conservative Catholics, but there are plenty of non-traditional Catholics who don't believe that it really matters where you worship.
