  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I don't know where to put this thread.....

It's rooted in a certain concept. Basically, it was considered a desecration for non-Christians (and Christians of other denominations, depending on what time period) to hold religious services on consecrated ground. Therefore, to prevent sacriledge, they would "desanctify" or "deconsecrate" the...

Single Transferable Vote vs First Past the Post.

I like STV better. We had a STV referendum in BC, but it didn't pass. Well, there's a bone of contention on that issue. There were 57% in favour of STV, but the Government required 60%; so much for democracy.

International AIDS Conference and PM Harper

What use would a prime minister there? Let's face it, the only reason why they invitied him was that so they could either castigate he didn't come or boo him if he would have. Let me ask, what politicians looks good being booed by an entire crowd of people. The excuse about the Liberian...

    Some say ending antidepressants daunting

SSRIs usually shouldn't be stopped quickly. I mean, a sudden fart in serotonin levels in the brain doesn't do anyone good. xMinionx, Maybe your friends should look at getting off Effexor. It's a bit more difficult for some people to get off of, though, than just by incrementally taking less...

So the word on the street is that Castro is dead....

The people that fled are mainly the ancestors of the formerly rich and powerful. Nevertheless, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuban_exile http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._support_for_Saddam_during_the_Iran-Iraq_war You reap what you sow.

    Geothermal vs Nuclear

Good point, but it's only cost effective if there's easy access to alot of thermally active areas. AFAIK, it's a lot cheaper to mine uraniam in Uraniam City than try to drill through the Canadian shield. With regard to nuclear waste, you can go the French route where if a US reactor produces X...

    Geothermal vs Nuclear

Nuclear can produce far more with much less resources than geothermal or thermal (which is usally just burning gas for energy).

    Rewarding Bad Decisions

Well, you know that good old 'Dubya doesn't reward bad decisions. He took action and punished Iraq for havin' a bunch of WMDs. Didn't really matter much that they weren't really there, George had to play world parent (though still a mental child himself) and punish them anyways!
