  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    So... Eternal Damnation?

Thank you to everyone for your very helpful answers!

    So... Eternal Damnation?

Timothew: That is pretty compelling. Couple of questions though. The verse in 2Thess describes eternal destruction. If the soul is just destroyed, and that's it, why is it eternal destruction? In Revelation 14:11, it says that the smoke of torment rises for ever and ever. Again, if destruction...

    So... Eternal Damnation?

On another thread, there was a discussion about hell, and some asserted that Hell either doesn't exist, or it is a temporary thing. I think this is a very interesting viewpoint, and without trying to start an argument, I wanted to hear about some verses which seem troubling. "And the smoke of...

Pray for me going to college

Please pray for me as I go off to college. I am feeling more and more anxious as I get ready to move in on Saturday. I am not feeling anxious about the academics, as I have always done well in school. I am feeling anxoius about being in a different place and having to meet new people, because I...

    Hasten the Day?

Thank you for the response, but I was hoping to look at 2Peter 3:12 specifically. How do you reconcile its implication that the Body of Christ can speed the day of His coming with your viewpoint? (I would tend to agree with you that we don't really have much ability to change the date, but this...

    Hasten the Day?

I have been hearing more and more claims about our ability to hasten the coming of the Lord, based upon the text of 2Peter 3:12: "...as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the...

    Pray for my church

I think you're right. I am pretty sure that they are saved, but they simply aren't living it. They've heard the Gospel, but maybe it needs to become more real to them. Peter

    Pray for my church

I say traditional not in terms of doctrine but in terms of practice. For example, hymns and other traditional elements are prevalent in a worship service. It is an issue because I am convinced that the youth simply do not connect with God in that way and to them it is a huge turn-off.

    Pray for my church

Hey guys- Please pray for a renewal to come to my church, especially the youth. We really need something to change. It is a fairly traditional church, and I think this is the root of many of the problems in the youth group. In any case, we need prayer. We need some awakening, renewal, and...

Do we all get the Holy Spirit?

Allow me to give my two cents. I am Charismatic with the tongues and all that, but I have never honestly understood the Toronto Blessing stuff. I am thoroughly convinced that God is a God of order, and that these "manifestations" do not bring him glory. I wonder what unbelievers would...

Have you ever spoke in tongues?

stelow: Don't desire to stat an argument, but want to try to clarify some things. I hate the vain repetitious "tongues" as much as you do. I believe that these people may be trying for the experience. That is, trying to force it. I don't know what God thinks about that, but I dislike it. In...

Have you ever spoke in tongues?

Slain in the spirit is something that has only happened to me once. It is very much linked to Pentecostals. Typically, it is when someone is being prayed over by someone else, and they simply cannot control themselves and fall backwards. They typically lie on the floor for a number of minutes...

Have you ever spoke in tongues?

I know what you mean. I grow very weary of those who use the thing as a sign of superiority. It simply cannot be edifying when all you are doing is standing up in front of a crowd and repeating the same syllable over and over again. It makes me embarrased to be someone who speaks in tongues.

Have you ever spoke in tongues?

I figured I would dip in and say something. I have spoken in tongues for about 3 years now, so there is some bias in what I am going to say. I would like to address 1 Corinthians 13:10. In the greek it says: ὅταν δὲ ἔλθῃ τ&#8056...

Peter
