  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Oh boy, here it comes... Dungeons & Dragons?

Please, PLEASE make some more friends that play it. Though it can be time consuming, it's SO much fun.

Oh boy, here it comes... Dungeons & Dragons?

All of my friends and I DO still live at home with our parents, but that's because we're all 18-19 years old, and are just starting our second year of college. The cost of living is expensive out here!

To be honest with you, I'm not sure if they're fundamentalists-- but they're not all from the same church. I personally do not associate myself with Christianity (though I do still follow the Christian interpretation of God and Jesus Christ), but when I attend various churches (of many different...

Los Angeles. I meant to say I "can't" count the number of Christians who have ridiculed me... sorry about that.

...Aren't wizards and mages the same? She obviously wasn't a sorcerer or a user of divine magic. I haven't seen the movie in years, so I don't fully remember that part.

Eh, I'm not so much into miniatures. Just pen and paper, using the imagination-- it's not as true to the game's rules, but it's a lot cheaper and easier to just get up and go.

Mhmm. And, you know, along with dragons, dwarves, rogues, wizards, and such... but that's all pretty generic :\ Is that FLCL? Great stuff.

Oh boy, here it comes... Dungeons & Dragons?

In my book, everyone who has posted in this thread is a winnar. You've all posted very uplifting and reassuring things, and D&D will remain a hobby of mine. Keep posting, though! I'd love to hear what you have to say about this! :) Also, in response to Izdaari's statement, I can count the...

Oh boy, here it comes... Dungeons & Dragons?

HAHAHAHAHAHA!! YES!! xD Have you seen the second one? The budget was even lower and it was straight to DVD... in fact, i think it premiered on the SciFi channel... but it wasn't quite as horrible as the first. In the first film, I could count the number of direct references to D&D on one...

    Son Lux

Anyone heard of Ryan Lott? He isn't a classical composer, but he was trained to be one. I can't recall his full story off of the top of my head, but it's something like this: he attended and graduated some extremely prestigious music school, and as soon as he graduated, instead of writing...

    Searching for post-rock bands.

I'm already into stuff like Mogwai, Jesu, Sigur Ros, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, 65daysofstatic, Tortise, Pelican, and The Ocean. Any recommendations?

    Immortal Technique

Check out Busdriver (or Bus Driver). He's got an excellent flow, genuine stream-of-consciousness lyrics, and some really creative beats. He does alot of work with the electronic artist Daedelus (who I also recommend, though he doesn't rap).

Stuck in suburbia. Need out. Help.

My relationship with God is fine, now. I don't need prayer, I don't need meditation. What I need is a physical escape from other humans, society, routines, and the horrible task of medial conversation. Have any of you ever seen the movie Into the Wild? I need that. I need an escape. To get away...

If you would make a band what genre you will sing?

WINNAR. That sounds a little black metally, too. On the Enslaved part, anyway. I'd do something along the lines of noise-rock, art-rock, noise, and electronics. Like Animal Collective + Battles + Lightning Bolt + No Age.
