CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was brought up as an orthodox Jew, but began exploring my faith when I was a teenager and found that I didn't really believe in organized religion. I still identified as Jewish though. I just saw myself as a non-religious Jew. It wasn’t until I hit my mid 20’s that I began to actively and critically examine my faith, and the very nature of faith itself. It was then that I began frequenting various forums online (including Christian Forums, mainly in the E&M and C&E subforums) and learned how to think logically. I learned about the logical fallacies that are used when people argue, and how to try to avoid them in my own thinking. After a few years of trying to convince myself otherwise, I finally came to the conclusion that there is nothing to indicate that there is some sort of higher power out there. As such, I lack any belief that there is any type of “Creator of all things”, otherwise known as God (or gods).
