  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    The greatest struggle

Have you found that atheists--as a group--have a interest in you and your inner being, your hopes and dreams, and what makes you tick? Can you confidently make such general conclusions? Perhaps your findings are inconclusive due to small sample size. ...Just joking. But I wonder if you're...

How do you know that you have found the right church?

I attended five different churches in town before settling on my current church, where I've been almost a year. What made me stay was the depth of the teaching and the sermons. The pastor prepares very well. There's Sunday school for kids and for adults. At adult Sunday school the pastor uses a...

    Father and daughter relationships

Honesty is key. That entails apologizing when you've been unfair, unkind, or simply mean. When I've gotten angry and yelled at one or both of my daughters when they didn't deserve it, I've apologized. Turning my life toward Christ (which happened after my girls were born) gave me the will and...

    God hates single people

Many times I have felt envious of single people for the freedom they have. They are masters of their own lives and their own houses. They live the way they want, spend money and save money the way the want, arrange their surroundings the way they want, do the things that they want. If I let...

    What a waste...

Dude, your kids like you. You said so yourself. Children need a father, and they *want* a father. They want a dad who loves them and wants to be around them. They need a dad who protects them and teaches them. If you've been a miserable failure--I sympathize. I have some things in common with...

Whats your favorite song from the 80s ?

The Promise by When in Rome is a great 80s song. It has the classic 80s synth sound and it's catchy without being annoying.

Ex Wife left me and the kids and I'm depressed

You came to the right place. Things have turned unbelievably bad in your life. Really--this is incredible. Stay strong for your children, and keep your faith in God.

I don't like the direction where society is going

This seems like a selfish perspective. Jesus will return on His own time. Believing that we can hasten His coming by making society more corrupt, sinful, and disordered seems wrong, and actually hoping for or taking pleasure in societal destruction seems even worse. We and our descendants all...

I've gone from agnostic to christian

I see that the book Mere Christianity has already been recommended to you. I'd like to second this. It begins without assuming anything more than the reality of human existence. It takes that reality seriously, defining terms and drawing logical conclusions, and asks what meaning we can derive...

    Manhattan KS?

I lived in Manhattan for a few years when I was a kid. It was a nice place (kinda muggy in the summer though), but I haven't been there since 1993.

    Trying to accept Christ

Aiki, you're right. The more I think and the more I develop the habit of sincere prayer, the more I am realizing this. I have had some moments of prayer that were so wonderful and beautiful that they brought tears to my eyes. I feel like I have caught glimpses of God, and through these glimpses...

    Trying to accept Christ

This is a really hard question to answer. I didn't think it would be but I've started and erased my response to this question a few times and I haven't got further toward an answer. So here's a fumbling sort of reply: I *want* to believe in God. I think I do believe in God. I know that I have...

    Trying to accept Christ

I apologize for the lateness of my reply. Anyhow, your question David is a very interesting one. What do I do with my guilt? I guess my first response is, my guilt about what? I do not feel guilty for not (yet, I hope) having achieved a meaningful understanding of God, or a relationship with...
