  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Couples try to spend week in cable cars to Win $30,000 prize.

Sign me up. I don't see what is so hard about it. Of course, I am a pilot, so I am accustomed to heights and turbulence, so that wouldn't be any big deal. I don't see why they ought to get the ten-minute breaks though.

Bush gives 16 billion to Africa: Was it really Necessary?

Thanks, jdunlap. Giantgerbil: You seem to have a major mental disconnect going on here. I have already commented that I am not a supporter of Bush. But frankly, if I were going to rant about him, I could pick several other actions of his that are more deserving of ridicule. (However, I...

    Why are you still single?

Why am I still single? Way too many reasons to list them all. So far, of the women I have actually dated, all but one would probably have married me, but I felt as if it was wrong. Gotta go with God's leading there. The other one decided the same for me. Better to be alone, than married to...

Bush gives 16 billion to Africa: Was it really Necessary?

Wow. Thanks for the math help. Those tricky numbers were really confusing me until you pointed it out. 16,000 * 50,000 = 800,000,000. 16,000,000,000/800,000,000 = 20 So 20 years = life? You aren't so much math help afterall. Or maybe people like you don't live as long as everyone I...

Where were you when the Twin Towers fell?

A side note to that: The terrorism actually hit home in an interesting way. One of us at the school suddenly remembered the next day that back in the previous winter, we had been contacted by a group of Saudis wanting flight training. Then not long after the investigation started, it was...

Where were you when the Twin Towers fell?

I was still at home when the first plane hit. I heard something about the towers and a plane over the clock-radio. Turned on the tv to see a little more. Then drove to the airport. I was scheduled to test for my flight instructor license on the 12th. (Needless to say, that didn't happen)...

    Testamonies

Earlier in my life, I was addicted to the bottle. Also the perfect example of selfishness. Even though I was in a Christian family, I whined and moaned in order to get my own way. I drove my parents crazy with my antics, often forcing them to readjust their entire schedules around me...

Do you pray out loud or in your head?

Thinking about the question of spoken or unspoken prayer, I came to what Paul wrote to the Roman church: (chapter 8 verses 26-27) "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words...

Do you pray out loud or in your head?

I always try to pray out loud if I am leading others in prayer. It helps them hear what I'm saying. I don't think it's relevant to God whether the prayer is aloud or merely thought. Yes God knows your heart. When we ask forgiveness, He wants acknowledgement that we recognize our sin. That...

    Suffering

I had to vote for a combination. But I don't think even that answer fully explains it. According to the Bible, Job was righteous and still suffered. Why? Because God allowed Satan to tempt him. So there we have God allowing it, though not causing it. Mush of our suffering is simply...

A personal question about "lording over"

A second thought, Steve: Perusing the gospels, I came upon this. If we sat down and tried to figure out how Jesus spent his time, what would we come up with? A vast amount of Jesus' time was spent showing mercy to people in need. We don't have a single account of Jesus preferring to be...

A personal question about "lording over"

Hi Steve. I don't have my reference material here, so bear with me. My first thought: Does your pastor actually believe that Luke 14 calls us to hate our families? I suspect not. That would invalidate the rest of scripture that calls us to love. It is a call to place God's work above...

    baby got jokes

My favorite is irony, I guess if I had to choose one. So that might attract me more than another, but I haven't ever analyzed it. Any of the above forms, presented flawlessly, will surely elict a good response from me though. My brother in law is without a doubt the most amazing pun-master...
