  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How can I live with my Catholic family and keep my faith strong?

I will be praying for you. I was born and raised in a Catholic family and went to 12 years of Catholic school. I got saved as a late teen and it got pretty rough. It is amazing what normally “good” people would say and do when pressed by their religious pride. Well, at least...

    Who is Anti-Christ

That's right StevenL. The doctrine of "the antichrist" is a relatively new doctrine in the church. The term "the antichrist" is not even mentioned one time in the Bible, as the only Scriptures mentioning "antichrist" above show. Darby introduced it into the evangelical circles in the 1800's...

Eternal security a.k.a. perseverance of the saints

Yes, God keeps us, and yes salvation is a free gift from God, but one still has to meet the conditions to be saved and then abide in Christ in order to remain saved. And there is nothing legalistic or “works” in the above statement. One has to repent and believe the gospel, and...

Eternal security a.k.a. perseverance of the saints

It would be a stretch to suggest from these Scriptures that God decreed billions to be damned and a few to be saved before the foundation of the world, as Calvinism teaches. These Scriptures are dealing mainly with national Israel. Paul also says about national Israel: 2 Cor 3:15-16...

Eternal security a.k.a. perseverance of the saints

I was actually trying to be nice in describing the biggest forgery against the gospel of Jesus Christ in Protestantism called Calvinism. It was John Calvin and many of the Reformers that had the "twisted mind" which propagated what is known as Calvinism. Those who believe in their doctrines...

Eternal security a.k.a. perseverance of the saints

Those are some excellent posts Child of Zion. You gave some Scriptures that cannot be disputed. Just like John 3:16 can not be properly interpreted to mean that Christ did not die for the WHOLE world, and therefore an exegesis of John 3:16 is avoided by the Calvinist, so it is with many...

    A closer look at "Predestination"

Yes, one can fall back into sin and commit the works of the flesh. That is why there are constant admonitions in the Scriptures to hold fast to the liberty where Christ has made us free and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage, to remain and abide in Christ so that we could bear much...

    A closer look at "Predestination"

I would define "in the flesh" as in Galatians 5 and in Romans 8:1-9, as the sin nature. Gal 5:16-25 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulful the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the...

    A closer look at "Predestination"

I can’t do the multiple cut and paste function for some reason, but I will try to answer your questions. Number one, I believe I explained that those people John was referring to in 1 John 1:8 were not saved. Those whom John was referring to in his epistle were not deceived. They were...

    A closer look at "Predestination"

I will quote part of the article entitled "If we say...If we walk" from my website. There are two keys in understanding the first epistle of John. The first key is, what one says and what one actually does or walks in could be two different things. The second is, many times in the...

    A closer look at "Predestination"

Sorry for the duplicates. My computer is acting up. Calvin says that conspicience is "perpetually producing new fruits" within the child of God. But Paul lists conspicience as a "work of the flesh" and a "fruit unto death" and says that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom...

    A closer look at "Predestination"

The purpose in predestination is not that God chose a few to salvation and billions to end up in Hell, but instead what He predestinated us to. Eph 1:4-7 4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5...

Why did you choose your username?

I chose mine because I love the book of Romans, particularly the sixth chapter of Romans, which is so central to the heart of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Someone pointed out to me on another forum where I used about the same username, that Romans is the sixth chapter of the New Testament. We...
