  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

LDS Mormonism teaches that Christianity is "abomination"

That quote, from a victim of the Nazis, is one I have used many times. Today, more than ever, I quote it for others. Injustice against any American is injustice against all Americans. We need to wake up before we become him. Your last sentence is spot on- we are to be concerned for all men...

LDS Mormonism teaches that Christianity is "abomination"

Absolutely! That is why Jesus was dead three days but only two full days. The Jews (Hebrew) says a 'day' is 'any part of a day' or even a full day- depending on context. Some people have issues with Jesus' death timeline. The Hebrew tells us what a day is/means.

LDS Mormonism teaches that Christianity is "abomination"

Actually, it is just, fair and deserved. Justice demands judgment. There are consequences to everything- some good, some bad, some dire. Not serving Jesus or serving the wrong one is as dire as a consequence can get. Christian know this and desperately try, failing at times, to inform every...

LDS Mormonism teaches that Christianity is "abomination"

The spirit is an immortal entity. God made it that way. Therefore, though He could have destroyed him completely, God decided something else...'only' God knows why (some pun intended). While we did have a creation point there is no, to my knowledge, cessation point for the spirit. This is why it...

LDS Mormonism teaches that Christianity is "abomination"

I rarely use WM for anything either. I've done my own personal research for so long I no longer need or want advice or help from the others- not that they are wrong. I have read the Tanners, though. I found them to be trustworthy and in depth and very detailed- though, again, I like to do my own...

LDS Mormonism teaches that Christianity is "abomination"

No, not at all. I was only making a point (I thought) of the worse of two bad situations. I'll have to read me again to remember for sure. I'm sorry if you took it that way.

LDS Mormonism teaches that Christianity is "abomination"

As I said earlier, the LDS quote the JoDs all of the time in their other source material. But when someone shows something like this (below) they say the JoDs are not their standard works. But the early leaders said they were (JoD 8:Preface page). What does the LDS here think of this teaching by BY?

LDS Mormonism teaches that Christianity is "abomination"

I looked up the word 'die'. Depending on sentence structure and context (do you know how much these two affect Scripture? I hope so bc it is a lot) it can mean anything from 'to be worthy of death' to actually dying. In Strong's Exhaustive Concordance the word 'die' is on page 264. The # for die...

LDS Mormonism teaches that Christianity is "abomination"

Yes, I hear myself. And, Yes, God cannot give a false prophecy/revelation. If He does then He isn't God. provide one if you think He has. Keep in mind 'context'. I know how the LDS church likes to use specific verses to make their point seem valid. C'mon. The fact that neither of them died...

LDS Mormonism teaches that Christianity is "abomination"

Please be so kind as to post the lies you feel WM stated. We can't discuss something that is not specifically outlined. I owned/read The Kingdom of the Cults. In relation to Mormonism I found nothing out of line, wrong or that he lied about.

LDS Mormonism teaches that Christianity is "abomination"

"Like God" is not what JS and others taught. I have a number of LDS books or copied pages of Journals, magazines, etc. that say men can become Gods (the 1919 D&C Commentary (D&CC). Two are D&C 76 and 132).

LDS Mormonism teaches that Christianity is "abomination"

The same can be said of Joseph F. Smith. When seated before the U.S. Senate (Reed-Smoot case) he outright denied ever having any revelations or prophecies from God. If anyone were to judge between the worst offenders of their respective god I'd have to say it was Smith- who denied that God...

LDS Mormonism teaches that Christianity is "abomination"

I own LDS books where LDS leaders/prophet agrees with the science that states the American Indians are, basically, Mongol descendants (I believe its the Mongols). They came across the Bering Stait (Pacific) when it froze over. I have never believed that story but Science did say it and the LDS...

LDS Mormonism teaches that Christianity is "abomination"

Hold on a second. We humans have no idea why God did what He did or what made Him do/allow the things He did/allowed (Deut. 29:29). All any person can say is God doesn't tell us everything He decides or allows. I'm sorry if that isn't enough for you (it isn't enough for me, either) but God...

LDS Mormonism teaches that Christianity is "abomination"

I believe if we could understand God- beyond what He clearly stated - we would be God. A verse that sorta backs this up is Sent. 29:29. God hasn't told us everything yet (eye has not seen nor ear heard) what He has in mind for those who serve Him/are saved. But the things He has told us (which...
