  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Under what circumstances is the Scripture the 'Word of God'

But if the bible is the word of God then it all must be, no matter who says what. Not sure if you're saying that or not.

Under what circumstances is the Scripture the 'Word of God'

Interesting. It would depend on how you view the Word. What I found most interesting is your comment that Satan does not represent the Word of God. If that is so, God is not in control. Overall, the scriptures have to be seen as the Word. Your perception is different to mine, perhaps.

    Female Pastors?

Whereas there is much you could say on this, women should be subservient to men - a trait fast disappearing from the west

Did Jesus save us from God?

But what about: Rom 2:8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath which I think could easily say passion. How can you obey anger / wrath? Who can obey / follow passions

'God' is not in the text.

Did Jesus save us from God?

Hello. There is no theos (God) in that verse in KJV. Also, 'wrath' properly according to Strong's should be translated as desire. What do you make of that?

Christian Universalism. What's not to like?

So that begs the question, from a neutral position, why the verses about hell / hinnom / hades / eternal /eonian, does it not? A fundamental question. And if there is a punishment for a time, then why not shorten it if Christ has taken the sin of the world.

Why did Jesus die on the cross

Was it just the blood? I still wonder why a man dying on a cross means mankind is freed from death. You have to wonder why he couldn't find a better way. Does that not grab you?

Why did Jesus die on the cross

But why that timing? And why was only Mary suitable? And it still leaves the ultimate question of the death. Was there no other way?

The Giving of the Holy Spirit

Okay. Thanks. New word for me: 'Chrismation'. It seems more in line (from what I've read) with anointing in oil. That would suggest the Holy Spirit came after - so not a direct anointing of Spirit. What do you think?

S So begs the question, does everyone enter the party at some point later.

The Giving of the Holy Spirit

Not sure if this is in the right section or not ... Anyway: What do we think of this: Act 8:17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. Act 8:18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, (KJV)...

Christian Universalism. What's not to like?

I guess the issue must be with the Greek aion which some say means an age or aeon
